That’s great pagirl!! I know you have been anxious about it all, so this is really super news. I hope the letter brings good news as well.

I don’t think you ever posted her stats and other activities. Mind sharing?

Thank you @fallenchemist!! I also forgot to mention that I am a member of National Honor Society, National World Language Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor society. I recieved Bronze recognition on the National Spanish Exam and currently have 18 spanish credits at my local community college. Also, in my junior year, I took up German and am continuing with that this year. My UW GPA is 3.87 and W GPA is 4.64

OK, now you are just starting to brag, lol. Kidding, that is really great. Sounds like you are into languages in a big way, so are my kids especially my D that is at Tulane. Chinese and French are her two of main focus.

Where else are you hoping to get in besides Tulane? Well, you are no longer hoping for that, you are in. What a great Thanksgiving, right?

@fallenchemist Wow, that is awesome for your daughter! And yes, it was a very good Thanksgiving! I have been admitted to U of Alabama, Penn State main campus, U of South Florida and Tulane obviously haha. I am still waiting to hear back from Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, Villanova, U of Miami, and U of Florida.

sorry, for the confusion, nov 15 app, nov 22 notification.

Is it normal for your Gibson username and password to be different from the ones used to apply?? I went to check application status on Gibson and the originals did not work. I submitted a “forgot” password form and they sent me back entirely different username and password.

Daughter has 3.7 uw/4.8 w, 30 act (31 superscore), 2040 sat, 6 honors, 6 AP (students don’t normally take any AP’s until jr year here), NHS, many EC’s and hundreds of volunteer hours…mostly involving tutoring middle school students and working with handicapped adults/children in a therapeutic riding program. She has been horseback riding and competing for 12 years and many of her activities are tied to her love of young children, horses, riding and teaching…more than “in school” activities.

Hannah must have been working on PA apps on Wednesday…made it a great Thanksgiving for us too! Think she has a shot at a scholarship?

Ikwpske…it is normal that they are different :)

Hmmmm, her case seems like a close call to me. I mean the short answer is yes, she absolutely has a shot at one. She just seems on the borderline, at least from what I have seen so far this year. In past years I would have said almost definitely, but this year seems tougher. Probably just a stronger applicant pool than ever.

So I will keep my fingers crossed. She should apply for the Community Service Scholarship. I don’t know if there is already any kind of program in New Orleans for less privileged/handicapped kids when it comes to riding, but there are stables in Audubon Park right across from campus. She should start one if she ends up at Tulane, that would be very awesome and would make a great CSS statement. That application is not due until Jan 15.

Thanks, FC. She would love to volunteer at a riding program or start one if one doesn’t exist. I’ll have her look at the CSS. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that there’s good news in the letter :)

Thanks pagirl17.

When would they have advised me had I not asked for new name and password??

Supposedly you get an email with Gibson log in info. We never got one though. Daughter did the “forgot password” to get hers too

I checked my Gibson online portal today and I got accepted. Is there anyone else out there who’s gotten their decision too? I’m hoping this isn’t a mistake D:

GPA: 3.33/3.488 UW/W

Congrats wstflb8! What are your other stats? Your GPA is similar to my son’s and he hasn’t been accepted yet, so I’m very interested in your other stats.

Pagirl17, your daughter should look into Celeste Point Theraputic Riding Center. It is located between Belle Chasse and Port Sulphur. This is approximately 35 minutes from campus. Facilities were damaged by the hurricanes and I’m not sure if its currently operating.

wstlfb a lot of people have already been accepted on here. I’m sure it’s not a mistake!

Still no news by us…we check Gibson every day. We were wondering whether acceptances came out over Thanksgiving weekend - I guess they do. Why do some students hear so quickly and others don’t? Is there any pattern like location or high school?

Jammer159, I will definitely have her check into Celeste Point when she goes down for a visit. Thanks for the info…hopefully they’ve been able to rebuild and are up and running again.

Congrats to everyone that has been accepted. I was trying to take a vacation from the college world during Thanksgiving so I’m just now catching up. Good new for many. Good luck with your merit letters.
