ACCEPTED, and could not be happier!!

Should I thank my admissions counselor? Or is that a little excessive…?

Congrats leya95. Your chances were good, so I am not surprised. But very pleased for you, sounds like a future Tulanian is now among us.

As far as thanking your admissions counselor, there is nothing wrong with that, especially since it sounds like from your earlier post that you have been in contact a few times already.

@Bowler thanks haha I should have been more clear, with my GPA I didn’t think I’d get in, so this was kind of surprising!

Mavitale, I had pretty good test scores (2110 SAT, 33 ACT) so maybe that helped me! 5 AP’s when I submitted my application, and i have 4 senior year

wstlfb8 - Those excellent test scores, especially the ACT, do help a lot. Also the large number of AP courses really help. Did you also have an upward trend in grades? In other words, was your junior year better than the previous ones?

The numbers are going up for my son’s HS… 4 kids admitted (out of 24 who applied). Historically about 1/2 get in… but only 2 or so actually attend. We’re still waiting.

Haha well congrats on getting in wstlfb8…
Good luck to you Mav and your son. I’m sure he will get be accepted any day now.

Received Congratulations letter from Tulane today. Offered a Presidential Scholarship and admission to the Honors College! So excited!

Congrats emutt! That’s awesome!

Congrats emutt. I was pretty sure you had those in the bag even without the increase from 33 to 34 on the ACT. That will help you for the DHS and PTA though, as we discussed earlier. How’s your project and essays coming along?

Thanks everybody! Fallen, I’m finishing up apps to other schools and I’m sending those out by November 30th. After that, I’m gonna start working on those! Do you know how many DHS awards are given out every year and what the normal stats are for an award winner?

Has anyone heard from Connecticut yet? I’m still waiting. Applied October 17th.

Gibson is blank again. Less than a month left to receive some kind of decision (good or bad). Still holding out for the best!

Fallenchemist, I suppose so, I got a 3.6/4.0 UW/W Junior year but got a D as well…so

Good luck Cheer007!!

Thank you wstlfb8!

My parents seem to have lost hope, but I’m going to hold onto the dream!

Cheer you still have some time… I’m sure you’ll get it soon! Keep holding onto that dream.

Cheer, Good luck! I can tell you as a parent, it’s very hard to “advise”. Just keep your hopes up and remember what it is you like about Tulane.

The not knowing is so hard!! My DD has been obsessing over Tulane. For months it was the only school she wanted to go to. Now, I’m not sure if it’s because she’s afraid she won’t get in or because she was at the O.S.U vs. Michigan game and had the best time, but now she wants to go to either O.S.U, Michigan or Indiana.(She’s been accepted to 2 out of 3 so far.) I think she KNOWS this isn’t the best choice for her but because now I’m stressing that there’s a possibility she won’t get into Tulane, I don’t want to remind her that Tulane is the best choice and that she didn’t love these schools when we visited. It’s hard as a parent to advise. I thought that most likely she’d get into Tulane but now I’m not so sure. She applied before some people that have the same rep. as her that have gotten in so it appears she is on the borderline. I wish she would keep an open mind until all the decisions are out, but I think in her mind she needs closure.

I’m the same boat as your daughter I believe. I applied back in August. I suppose we’ll just have to keep on waiting. Tulane is my obvious first choice and I am so invested in it. It’s everything I could ever want in a school. But we all know that where we end up is where we’re supposed to. I was admitted into Loyola NOLA last week which is wonderful in itself. And that gives me hope, but that doesn’t mean I’m ready to give up on Tulane.

I’m just ready to receive the news, whatever it may be, so I can either move on or start celebrating.

For the last 4 years there have been 75 awarded. They do not announce the average stats of the winners, but they seem to be pretty much in line with the guidelines they recommend. 2250+ SAT or 33+ ACT, top 5% of your high school class which generally translates into 3.85+ GPA with strong schedule, although of course the GPA will vary depending on the high school’s grading policy.

I have seen winners with somewhat lower stats that did truly great projects and had other strong academic credentials. 2200 SAT is as low as I have seen, 32 ACT.

Same here - dying to hear already!!!
