Not at all. Many students get credit for a language they have already taken in high school through AP level, but that is just a bonus. My point is that many of these students (and others as well) take the opportunity to start a completely new language. Or, if you want to take your Spanish to a higher level, they will help you get correctly placed at the proper level at Tulane. It wouldn’t be unusual to start with Spanish 102 for example. Depending on your own ability at this point, 4 semesters at the high school level is often just one semester or one year at the college level.

Edit: Just reread your post, and I assumed it meant will it hurt you once you are at Tulane. I am ever the optimist! Maybe you meant will it hurt you as far as admission. Again, I don’t think so, but it might be worthwhile to make sure your admissions officer at Tulane knows that your school only offers 2 years of Spanish. Maybe you could have taken something else, but that isn’t the point and I wouldn’t bring that up. You took the max your school offered, so it isn’t your fault.

This is crazy. The Gibson site for D said yesterday: Congratulations, you are accepted. Now it says, Your application is incomplete AND Congratulations, you are accepted. D will just wait until tomorrow and check again. Confusing, huh?

The incomplete message is a glitch. You can double check or wait for the letter in the mail, but I think it is pretty certain she is accepted. It has been a few days since people started getting their acceptances and there is no emergency alert from Tulane that they didn’t mean it. They always seem to have trouble with the complete/incomplete issue. Happened last year too I think. Don’t know why that happens.

I would agree with FC. My son has the same inconsistent messages. But I know, or at least I was told last Friday, that my son’s application was complete and I know when everything was sent, so I am not giving any credence to the current “your appllication is incomplete language”. I don’t think you need to worry at this point.

As FC noted, there was a “mixed messages” issue last year that I actually experienced with my eldest. It was significant, at least to us, at the time as it had to do with a large scholarship, but it was very quickly and professionally addressed by Tulane. I have been quite pleased with the responsiveness of Tulane over this application cycle and last.

Unfortunately, these things happen during the application process given the huge numbers of applicants. There were a couple of really horrible examples at other schools. I don’t see this current situation as one of them.

Thanks for the PM, kreativekat! I don’t have enough posts yet to reply privately. Thank you for the information, though I confess it does not please me immensely. I wonder how long it will take after she gets back to Tulane. I, like your son, have been checking Gibson a lot (much more than daily haha). Thanks again.

My DS Gibson account said complete, then yesterday incomplete. Can’t take this stress along with the power outage from the storm still (along with no internet or cell service). I emailed admissions yesterday got an email back (from Owen!) who said his app is complete and Gibson now says that too.

I can only get on line sporadically (not at my house) – so hard not being connected. However, I know a lot of people who have several feet of water in their house and trees on their houses so we are very lucky. I can deal with a little inconvenience.

Congrats purple! We are in nj too. What are your stats? Where in jersey? We have no power here post hurricane with only sporadic Internet. I’m. Sitting in my car charging my cell. I was just able to login to Gibson. Still says complete. Waiting. …:.

Hey all- Jeff from the Admission Office here. Our students have created the Official Class of 2017 Tulane page. We’re trying to avoid all the spammy and fake groups this year. This one will be monitored by Owen and the rest of the students here in the office. Here’s the link for all you admitted students. Oh, and congrats!

Congrats to you too jgli95. Another New Jersey acceptance! Now I am going to be checking Gibson every time I have cell service. Where in jersey are you ? I hope that you are doing okay after the storm. We have no power and they say that it could be another 7-10 days. Not fun.
