How soon will we hear about admission decision?

Holy crap my son got in today!! He doesn’t know yet… ;)

I’m still in shock. I was SURE he was getting deferred at best. We’ll be taking a trip down in January!

Well mavitale, after all the sturm und drang I hardly know what to say except: GREAT!!

Mavitale, I am so excited for you. I know you have been waiting a long time (longer than us!) and that it is (one of ) your son’s top choice! Very exciting!! I can’t wait to hear his reaction.

Sdstar- congratulations!

Congrats mavitale! I k kw you been waiting a while. Great job!

omg - still waiting… congrats mavitale!

Guys Tulane has online chat today check it out !:d

Status is blank AGAIN!! UGH

Congrats Mavitale.

Congrats Mavitale!

MaVitale-TOLD YA SO, TOLD YA SO, TOLD YA SO. And I am going to collect on all my drinks!

Hahahaha Vitrac!! I’m happy to pay up!

Just got the letter today

Accepted with a $20000 a year scholarship.
A little upset that I didn’t get honors, but whatever.

I have a couple questions if any of you can answer them:

What are the levels of merit aid? I’m more curious than anything else. I always hear about the founders/presidential/distinguished scholar awards, but all I got was the academic achievement award, which is still apparently worth $20000. I know presidential is obviously the best, but how do the other ones rank?

Does Tulane usually give out decent need based aid as well? $20000 a year is certainly generous, but I’m hoping for like an extra $10000 need based aid on top of that.

Good luck to all of you who haven’t heard back yet, I’m sure you’ll get in :)

I wondered when Vitrac was going to gloat.

Six days after I got my notification, my letter arrived today. 20k Academic Achievement Award!!

So much has changed in a week! Since I submitted my application over the Summer, I was sure I was going to either be differed or rejected as everyone else was getting admitted.

Anyone waiting - Don’t feel discouraged! My stats aren’t that competitive. 3.5 UW GPA with a 30 on the ACT. I do a lot of clubs and have a lot of leadership, but it seems everyone that applies to Tulane has the same experience. Really though, so much can change in just a week, so don’t get discouraged!

I can only hope we are get the same result as you! Awesome!

Neuroparty - This year:

Presidential = $27,000
Distinguished Scholar = $25,000
Founders = $22,000
Academic Achievement = $20,000
Leadership = $8,000

There might be two levels of the Leadership award, with the other being something like $15,000 but they may not have that this year. At least no one has said they got that one.

Absolutely Tulane does need based aid as well. Of course the merit money is counted towards your package. So if it was determined your family needed $45,000 in aid before the scholarship, now it would be $25,000. Tulane doesn’t guarantee to meet 100% of that, but often they do, and it would most likely be a combination of grants and loans and possibly work-study.

Don’t worry about the honors program. Read my response on that recent thread with that title. Congrats on everything so far!

My PM box is now cleared out. Am awaiting “You were right” messages. Carry on.

That’s depressing, I have a 35 ACT

Ah well, I’ll see how my other apps pan out. Tulane is still up there on my list, but I’m going to require need based aid if I’m still going to have to pay $39000

So rather than tell my son to check Gibson when he got home, I printed out a screenshot of the Congratulations page and casually asked him to do me a favor and get my work out of the printer… Reaction? Priceless.

neuroparty - what are your other stats, ECs etc.? Not based just on ACT, but who knows, perhaps a mistake was made.
