@Hopeful42020 Congrats! I just wish they weren’t so late with this info. Did they tell you the exact amount you will receive? On my email, it says it’s UP TO $24173.25, while the website says it’s between $3,500 - $32,231. I want to know the exact amount I will be awarded, so I can add that in to my financial aid letter and accurately evaluate it.
And I think they want you to print it out and mail it back to them. At least that what it says on the document. Note how it says “Your acceptance must be postmarked no later than May 1, 2016.” at the bottom of the first page and “Please complete and return this form to the address above” at the bottom of the third. However, try calling them and asking them, maybe they will accept it through email. That is sometimes the case.
I applied to howard in October, got accepted in december, got invited to apply to the bs/md program in January, applied for that in february and got my scholarship on april 1st. I am Canadian so i was unable to fill out the FAFSA but, without my financial info, how were they able to determine the specific amount for the CAPSTONE? I was awarded $19716 but i thought, even with the scholarship cut backs, i would still qualify for full tuition which is almost $25000. Did any international students receive a different amount for the CAPSTONE, or are all international applicants getting the same amount for this particular scholarship? @Hopeful42020 ?
@ThatPeprika@joyfuljoy My CAPSTONE scholarship says up to $20950.15. I want to know if that’s the exact amount too. Why does Howard have to be so confusing? On the mailing issue, I’m gonna ask my mom to call them to know the exact amount I’m getting so I can sort out myself.
They calculate your aid based on your EFC and the SAT scores you got. CAPSTONE doesn’t give you full tuition though. On the website it says you can get a scholarship of an amount between $3,500 - $32,231. At the bottom of the page is updated information on the scholarships.
@Hopeful42020 i have the same questions. I was able to schedule a phone appontment with the director of financial aid for next week to hopefully clear up the questions i have. My family and i need to make plans, financially, but i need to know how much i am expected to pay before i do that. Also has anyone gotten back to you about the I-20 and such? I called and they said the end of April, but still no notification regarding that. For anyone that applied for the bs/md program, have u been notified regarding the status of your application?
Hi everyone! I had applied RD on first week of January and haven’t heard back yet. Does anyone have any idea until when I will be receiving my decisions?
I paid mine at the school, but they want you to do it online. And first you have to accept your financial aid package in order to pay for school unless you were offered a full ride
Howard is extremely slow. The balances normally dont show until mid to end of July. If you have a scholarship make sure you accept it. You can also set up a payment plan thru the link above.
@ReturningFavor has your daughter been notified of housing. My friends daughter (rising sophomore) was told she will be housed off campus. There will be some angry folks as a lot of parents dont want their sophomores off campus.
@partyof5 yes she is in East again–she says. Did your friend’s daughter apply on time and have some rsvp points? Have not heard of anyone not getting on campus who was in that situation. I have heard of some who turned down a spot (didn’t select because they did not want it), waited for something better to come along, and then were not able to get on at all.
I like a lot of what the new president is trying to do. Sadly, we are caught in the growing pains of trying get all of it done. With HU have such and incredible strong business school, you’d think they could engage some of them to help implement the ideas!
@ReturningFavor I didnt ask about the rsvp points maybe that was an issue. I talked to my friend again, and she wasnt that upset. She said there was a lot of drama in the dorms this past year.
