Congrats Hoops921 and Ravenna ! I got one too! I hope to see you guys at Dimensions :)!

Thanks for all the congratulations : )

For those who ask about stats and such:
SAT: 2320 (1560 regular)
SAT2's: 800, 790, 760
Rank: 2/250

EC's: Nothing too impressive really. A couple of leaderships here and there.
Awards: Again, nothing national or anything that's particularly jawdropping. Got one or two state awards, a lot of FBLA stuff, um National Merit, school awards, etc.

Hook: I have no idea. I mean, I'm an asian male from NJ lol, I don't think that was particularly helpful. Interview? Just had one last night, so that couldn't have counted. Maybe it was my essay. I'm a first gen. immigrant and really went into struggles of living with no money and parents who don't speak English. I guess that helped? I don't know.

To be honest, I don't know how I got this letter. Buuuuuut, I'm just so happy that I did.

What were your SAT IIs? (You did better than me...mine were Lit, Bio E and French; 800, 770, 650...650, ick.)

I'm a white female from VA. 2/363. IB. What's your GPA, Hoops921?

At least you know now that even if your interview was awful...you're in!

As for your essay...I'd say yep, that really, really helped!

Some basic stats:
SATI: 2360
SAT II: 800 Math IIC, 800 Literature, 780 Chemistry
3.96 GPA

tchaikovsky, you rock! You totally deserve the Dartmouth likely letter :)

My SATII's were MathIIc, US History, and Chemistry (800, 790, 740 in that order). GPA? It's like a 4.6 something weighted, I have no idea how to calculate that unweighted, probably like a 3.9 or so I guess.

Big congratulations to Ravenna and tchaikovsky! As tchaikovsky said, hope to see you guys at Dimensions.

tchaikovsky, Hoops921, and Ravenna, you guys are top students, and should extremely proud of yourselves :). I think it's great that Dartmouth let you guys know that you've been accepted. Congratulations!

Thanks and congratulations to everyone--depending on who you are!

tchaikovsky, you DO totally deserve it! What did you write about for your essay?

Hoops921, I'd think that would be a 4.0. ^_^

Congrats!

Did everyone get the financial aid email???

Did everyone receive the financial aid email?

I got it......

Yea...me too. I'm sure the email went out to everyone. Oh well...it got me excited for a moment. Congrats to everyone who received a likely letter! Enjoy!!!

Does this mean that the admission committee factored in First semester senior grades then? I wouldnt think they would compile them for a while!

I am so glad that my daughter got this special letter.
Her stat:
SAT I 2310 (V740, M800, W770)
SAT II (MathIIc 770, Chem 770, Hist 750)
GPA 94.5
NYC public school
Asian

a couple of EC's
Hook: (maybe) Sho took part in college overnight program last year

She didn't get interview until now.

HC240 My D's counseling office told me that they just sent midyear reports two days ago but they have been getting calls from admissions offices asking verbally for grades to confirm the "likely" decision. So while they probably made the admit decision without the midyear grades, they probably want to verify there hasn't been a huge change before sending the letter.

I'll have to ask my counselor....she could've sent them...also, do you think the interview I had about 4-5 days before the creation of the mail (Feb. 10) had anything to do with it?

i just got my likely letter today!! i'm very, very excited and can't wait to go visit dartmouth.

congrats to the other CCers!!

Congratulations! It must be a relief to know you got into a great school : )

BTW...is the title of this thread reminding anyone of that song, "I've Got a Golden Ticket" from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory? (There's a guy in my class who sings that ALL THE TIME....)

You know what? Ironically, when I got that letter I kept referring to it as, "This is not paper. It's gold!" Weird I know...^_^

To all those who have gotten the likely letter: where else did you apply?
