blushes aww...thanks bobbobbob...you're applying to Dartmouth as well?

yup, but I live on Long Island where almost no one gets likely letters unless they are freakin insane.

fun times.

Congrats to all of you who've received likelies! It makes me happy to see you all so excited to visit. I know you'll have a great time at Dimensions. BTW, the dates are April 19-22nd and all accepts are welcome.

Has anyone from Canada gotten a likely letter? Even more, Vancouver?

to bobbobbob, did you apply just RD or ED as well? just curious because my best friend applied ED and was deferred...^_^...please don't mind my curiosity.

i applied RD

Aretsuya, u can PM me ur essays ;)

what are the dates of the "three waves" of likely letters for Dartmouth this year?

My letter was postmarked Feb 14

From what I remember they are mailed out on tuesdays about 2 weeks apart. So if this first one is Feb 14, then the next wave would be around the 28 then mid march.

So if an applicant doesn't get a likely letter in one of those three waves, is it unlikely he/she will be accepted?

No.

Remember that even WITH the massive "likely letter" campaign, only about 40% of those admitted from the Regular Decision pool will agree to enroll.

When is Dimensions?

I didn't get anything about dimensions with a likely. what should i do?

Not everyone who gets a likely letter gets an invitation to dimensions. If you decide to go on your own (which means arranging your own transportation and accomodations), they will make you feel more then welcomed when you get there.

how should that be intrepreted? What % of likelies get an invitation to Dimension? By not getting an invitation, do I assume I am at the lower end of the likelies?

I didn't get an invitation either. I assume it will come soon; at least, that's what I've heard. Im still wondering when Dimensions is.

you can sign up for dimensions too. you dont have to be sent something by dartmouth.

where does one sign up?

Just because you did not get an invitation does not mean that you are on the low end of the likies (think about it, it you were on the "low end" you most likely would have not been admitted)

From the class of 2009

*Approximately 450 of the 1752 students accepted in the regular decision admissions pool are expected to converge on Hanover during the next few days. *

Dimensions weekend commenced Thursday when more than 500 of the recently regular-decision admitted '08s arrived in Hanover to attend panels, receptions and information sessions and to stay with student hosts in College dormitories

Invitations to dimensions go out during the likely and the regualr RD process. If you do not get an intivation you can still come to dimensions (this includes ED students) it just means that you have to get your self to Hanover and arrange to to get someone to host you. Last year some of the 8's who posted on CC did host some of the 9's for dimensions.

If you have friends at Dartmouth, and you have a likely now would be a good time to ask them if you can crash in their dorm. IF you make your own arrangements to attend and contact Dartmouth, they will feed you and include you in all of the activities.

Even if you don't have someone to host you, if you let the school know that you would like to attend and will make your own travel arrangements, they will blitz out to the freshmen to ask for volunteers to host prospective freshmen (and I believe that the 9's will pay it forward and host people :) )

I know that for people living in the tristate area (NY, NJ, CT), Dartmouth will have a couple of buses going up to dimensions and students pay a nominal fee (about $75 could be more now) to take the bus to Hanover.

Dimensions is April 20-22 (hopefully someone who got an invitation this year can confirm the dates)
