well i called dartmouth up last year to schedule an overnight (which they dont do) but she said that if i was admitted then they could put me into dimensions...

I think I've mentioned this before. But the Dimensions dates are April 19 - 22nd this year.
And one adjustment to what Sybbie has written. ED students aren't encouraged to attend. This means that if you do want to go to Dimensions you will have to find your own host (which will be tough b/c most students are hosting RD prospies) or stay in a nearby hotel w/parents. You don't get the free food or the other goodies, but you do get the Dimensions experience.

Are you sure it's april 19-22nd?

Yes, I am sure. It begins Wednesday and end Saturday. I'm sure there are some who have likelies out there that will confirm.

argh. do you think they purposely put it on the same week as bulldog days for yale? Of course, I probably won't have to worry about that conflict as I'd be insanely lucky to get into either...

Yes mine says April 19-22. I wonder when's the latest date that we can call up and reserve?

No, it just happens to be the same week that many students are out for spring break (passover/easter). This way it eliminates students having to take extra days out of school so many schools will have preview/admitted days during the same week.

hey for the people who got likely letters were they posted on the dartmouth website?

No, they weren't.

Is there any internations who received likely letter?

Hey guys, I just received my likely letter today. I am sooo excited. My mom and I were so happy to make one of those "shooting stars" a reality. I guess it's like a confirmation that maybe you are good enough to apply to a school as good as Dartmouth. Congratulations to everyone who received it. Don't lose hope to those that didn't.

BTW charmdad, if you meant to say internationals, then I am an international student (canadian) who lives in the US.

Iney,

Congratulations !! I am so happy for you (see the parents were right). I remember when you posted on the parents board in december and you sounded like all was lost. I am glad that things are working out and in the end you will have some great choices.

Dear iney, congratulation!!! I hope my daughter can get the letter!!

iney, make a little side trip over to the Parent Forum. Lots of folks are cheering your good news over there.

@Solome: I applied from Victoria and I didnt receive anything.... Hey you also applied to wellesley EE right? -hehe, on the same boat!... Fingers cross...

I am ineys mom. My daughter got the likely letter today. When I got home today for lunch, I saw this letter from Dartmouth. Ive learned about those likely letters from CC, but felt that it was unlikely that my daughter would get one, (well, EA rejection syndrome).
I thought that this would be too early for a rejection letter. Thank god, it cames as wonderful news.
Sybbie719, thanks for sharing your knowledge about Dartmouth. I learned it from this website, really liked what I read about it. My daughter went for an overnight this past July. She really loved it. She got invited to the Dimensions too.
Jmmom, thank you so much for your support to my daughter. You have my heartfelt thanks!!!!

lol, pc31, this is so funny...I have not received anything yet.

Are these likely letters sent based on mid-year reports that Dartmouth received? I have learned that Dartmouth will send three wave of letters. The second wave of letters will be sent around early March. For me, it's like they make a decision after they receive mid-year reports. I would appreciate greatly if anybody could drop a few lines. Thanks.

Are the letters sent out on a first come first serve basis? For ex, if you had sent in your app early in the process (early dec.), but didn't receive anything in the first wave, does it mean it's unlikely a likely letter will come around?

If you're counting waves by the ebb and flow of posts on this site, 2 of them have already happened. And they don't start reading applications until after Jan 1st so submitting it early doesn't give you any advantage. There will be plenty of great applicants who don't receive likely letters.
