Mackie45, my son received an email saying that admissions did not have his SAT scores and High School transcript. The SAT scores had been sent by collegeboard back in December, the same month the transcript was sent. I had the high school fax the transcript which also listed the SAT scores on them. Then, I called admissions who said that they already had the SAT scores, so they weren't sure why that email said they didn't. Within a week or so, my son received the letter saying he was accepted and being told early. So, just have your high school fax it out ASAP.

At this point, admissions offices must be in a state of chaos. We've had a similar experience or two with messages regarding missing application components that the schools actually had.

I had my school fax it on friday. I really want a decision now, but we only have to wait 2 more weeks. So... goodluck to all!

My daughter auditioned for theatre and we haven't heard from them yet. We did get an e-mail about a week ago indicating that everyone would know something by April 1st.

I still havn't heard, I am a little worried. Because I figure this means, I am probably rejected. As most of my friends who get into the schools, get their letters before the kids who get the rejections.

Is there anyone in the same boat? I really like Fordham, its one of my top choices!

Improvements, my son didn't get his official acceptance letter yet. My understanding is that those are going out the end of March, early April. He received an early acceptance letter from Fordham, which is the exception. Fordham said that only a small group of students received these. So, the regular bunch of acceptances haven't been received yet. You could always call admissions to confirm this, and perhaps that would help you keep the faith. I wish you all the best.

I received a letter saying that I was accepted as one of the small group of students.

Can I safely assume that by accepting me (and all others) early that they will offer some money, or some other incentive to go? Or is just tellin me 2 weeks early the reward for being an unintentional member of an "exceptional group of students"

I really hope its money.

I dont understand how the link answers my question, but good info.

because its just a small selected group, its not like you're the only one who doesn't know, we're all pretty much waiting.

i got in!~
but w/o any scholarship..~or any aid since im a intl student~
would u choose to go to fordham w/o $$?~

Hindoo, I definately don't think she didn't get the letter because she didn't do an interview. I didn't even visit and I have lower stats and still got the letter. Maybe they thought her stats were so high that this was her safety school and she wouldn't be going there anyway.

gopumas07, getting the letter actually made me more interested. Sometimes when I told ppl what schools I applied to I'd forget Fordham. Now I'm pretty interested because maybe then I'll get a good scholarship.

kyky, Personally, Without any scholarships I wouldn't go but I think it depends on how much that student is able to afford. I got into NYU and it's been my number one choice, but without really good financial aid (which NYU doesn't really give)I won't be going. So chances are, I won't be going to NYU. But if your family has the money, and NYC is where you want to be, go for it.

My daughter actually really liked Fordham. They apparently didn't like her in return. Alas. She's been accepted to other good schools, so what will be, will be. Best of luck to you all!

Hindoo, your daughter will be accepted, and I bet with a good scholarship. Her stats are great. Perhaps the early letters were also based upon so many from a certain region.

You may be right, CMA1. Or maybe not. ... I'm a little naive, maybe, but I really don't appreciate how many colleges play psychologicial games with young, nervous applicants. Either they want you or they don't. Enough, already, with these early letters and coy notes stroking a very "special" few, while the rest of the kids are left to wonder and agonize. My daughter was so incredibly disheartened when she learned that Fordham had sent out enthusiastic, loving letters to a number of applicants some time ago, and it appeared to her that the school deemed her somehow unacceptable. I'm sure many other non-early-letter recepients felt the same way. Fordham is certainly not the only school to do this, but the practice of notifiying some much earlier than others seems cruel. If they're RD applicants, they should all be notified at approximately the same time. At least in my opinion. ... Thanks for your kind note.

Hindoo - i totally agree. it's making me myself afriad fordham might not want me and if they don't want me what if my other schools im waiting for don't want me either? im so nervous. i keep checking my mailbox this week incase fordham decide to send in anything a bit early lol

Hindoo, I do agree with you. I know that one of the ivies sent out early letters, and my son's stats were higher (sometimes much) than those who posted. Luckily, he doesn't frequent CC, so he isn't psyched out by not getting the early letter.

Also, I remember hearing on CC about another school that was sending recruitment type letters last summer to students based upon how they scored in AP's and SAT II's in the sciences. My son didn't get that letter either. I actually asked an admissions officer what the basis was, and he told me that they obtained the names from collegeboard but they were not just based upon scores but also ethnic status, etc.
It can all be very confusing.

thx for the suggestion~
i think i wont go to fordham w/o scholarship~
plus...i dont really like NYC~even tho many ppl want to go there~

My son got a similar letter a few weeks ago but we're still waiting for the actual admissions packet. FYI: We live in Central PA

My son just rec'ed a package from Fordham. So far, all he has told me is that it is a Dean's Scholarship. When he is done reading it, I will let you know the details. Maybe it is the formal acceptance.
