in at wisco, illinois, and socal
maybe at tech and wake
reach at oxford (emory)

Emory seems kind of a safe for you and so does Wisco

Georgia Tech- a little hard for you since they don’t regard ethnicity so much, but considers GPA very important in admission process, which is a pain in the back.

Wake Forest- would be somewhat of a match since even though your scores are barely in the mid. 50% range and GPA is sort of hanging, but your ethnicity and impressive work experience might put you on a edge here.

USC- is a reach for you, its a reach for everyone. Your ethnicity and work experience might give you the edge but your GPA and test scores are behind.

I have said USC, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech is a bit of a reach for you disregarding your essays and recommendations. Since I see that you have pretty darn good ones I say you’ll most likely to get in at least one of them.
Out of the three you’ll most likely to be admitted to Georgia Tech then Wake Forest then USC
For Emory and Wisc. you’ll most likely just get.

is it GPA that they [Georgia Tech] regard so highly or SAT? i thought i read the CR + Math, but idk for sure

Georgia Tech regards GPA very importantly

Oxford of Emory: match
USC: high match-low reach (know someone accepted here…had slightly higher stats and more ECs than you, but I think you have a good shot)
Wake Forest-low to mid reach
Georgia Tech-low match to safety (know a couple people who easily got accepted here)
-Unsure about Illinois and Wisconsin-Sorry!
I think that for your high match to reach schools your minority status won’t be as much of a factor as whether or not you have out of this world essays and recs. It’ll help, but I don’t think it will be a deciding factor in the end.

oh yeah, and i added in the comm service and the leadership exp. to add to the EC’s and make them better.

Oxford lol EVERYBODY gets in so no worries

the only thing bad about Oxford is the campus and the lack of school spirit but hey if you know about oxford and that thing its a good deal! if you catch my drift

Oxford emory is easier then emory college so…i would say in…usc…is hard so high reach, wake forest: scores don’t matter so if u have pretty damn essay…probably in…Wisconsin and illionis sry…no idea…and georgia tech dn sry

o yea…being hispanic is def good!! being asian…is bad…so ur chance might be greater espeically at the southern/northern schools

hmm tough at all, usc probably the toughest cause of poor test scores.

chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/603590-i-just-found-out-i-f-d-up-last-thread-damn-4.html

i don’t know about usc because a 27 on the act might be kind of low
what about sat scores

sat took once, and did terribly. like really terribly.

starcrane721 (along with many other posters) has a good point, in that being hispanic will definitely help you when applying to most colleges, as hispanics are a URM.

You probably have a pretty good chance at Georgia Tech (I’m not gonna say anything for sure, because I’m not an adcom). According to the Fiske Guide, the ACT range (middle 50%) is 25-32, so you’re in there. OOS admissions are probably more competitive, but I’m not sure exactly how much (does Georgia Tech have a quota for # of instate?).

USC, however, is probably a reach. It’s more selective than Georgia Tech. The ACT range is slightly higher (27-32) than Georgia Tech’s. Also, I can’t remember the exact figure, but USC’s accepted average GPA is probably higher than Georgia Tech’s.

3.28 @ wisco, and oxford college of emory,-Match southern cal- Reach
3.36 @ illinois,-Match wake forest-Low Reach
3.45 @ Georgia Tech-Low Reach

yeah georgia tech doesn’t have a quota for # instate, but their ACT ranges according to the people there are for the English and Math sections, not overall. so i’d be at like a 30 with that 28 and 32.

lol i really hope i get in there though.

You’ll get into wisonson. I know a few kids who got into wisconson with lower stats than yours, but that was to b-school and I dont know what the art and science standards are like

Chance Back?!

thank you NK. any more thoughts? specifically on Georgia Tech??

how about more time on your apps and less time chancing every SINGLE thread so they’ll chance back. at this rate i see why your gpa is garbage

you’re right, i’m sorry i’m just so concerned and hopeful to get into Georgia Tech. i finshed my apps and hw and stuff and now i’m just sitting here checking out college football and watching game film for our championship game on friday night.

sorry I dont’ know too much about the schools…but being hispanic should help especially with a decent gpa like your…
are you a legacy? cuz that would help as well
