impressed by your achievements letter?

dmoore, what exactly did you ask when you called the admissions? thats weird, admissions always tell us that they are NOT releasing info. until the 30th i guess they totally backed out on that lol congrats though but MORNEAU is completely right, dont do too much celebrating just yet. keep this news low key.

okay…I apologize if I ruined anyones day sincerely…It was a strong hint…a very STRONG hint…but not the exact words. Common Sense.

morneau is completely right. dmoore11…i’m not sure how to say this nicely, but you really need to keep your mouth shut. for some of us, unc is our first choice, and hearing someone go “omg omg i got accepted!!!” 26 days before we are supposed to find out is like a heart attack.

wow you guys, the Tarheel Shadow Program, for January 25th, is already FULL. that was fast, anyone going to the 25th date? let us know how it goes!

I’ll be there on the 25th…kinda excited for it :)

I am going to shadow on the 25th too-hey TarheelBound2010(nice name)-have you received any details about where to go, and who you are shadowing? Details?
I am going to stay on campus with a friend on Sunday night think.

hey 2010emily, i asked admissions, and they said that students come back on the 11th, it will be then that your email is passed onto a student and they will contact you…

Yea…thanks for the info dmoore,I hope we’re paired with someone from our intended field of study

but yea I’m goin up on that Sunday too…and i know nothing about it other than what was described on the portal, I’m just happy to have been invited…and it’s a day out of school so I’m definitely going!! lol

i think a pair of students shadow a carolina student, based on what andrew told me ( one of the directors

Thanks for the info, that makes sense. I had my M/C interview on Tuesday and find out if I am a finalist on Jan. 22nd, so I am excited about getting a new perspective on UNC through the shadowing. :)

I’m a bit surprised–My s is oos with a 35 act, NMS Commended Student, 3.9 uw gpa, tops in his class, extensive volunteer hours, leadership and 4 years of a varsity sport and we haven’t heard anything! :frowning: Very sad indeed!

proudofmykids- sentiments here exactly. We are OOS, my D has 2320 SATs, tops in her class, tons of music awards and leadership in our school. We haven’t heard anything and she is really getting down on herself. Figures if UNC rejects her, all other schools will too. This is a tough time of year :(

Proudofmykids and NJ Mom of 2- I have similar stats to your kids, but I’m not too worried about it. I figure that they probably haven’t gotten to my application yet (they pushed back the decision day for a reason), and even if they have, not getting a likely letter does not mean that you won’t get in or that you won’t get an invitation to Scholarship Day. No need to get worried now :)

proudofmykids and NJ Mom of 2 - I wouldn’t worry too much about it! They’re obviously qualified, and the application period is dragging out much longer than usual - the notification day has obviously been pushed back for a reason. The lack of a likely letter probably just means they haven’t gotten to reading your child’s application yet. I feel like if you get a likely letter, you’re extremely lucky - it seems like 100 percent fate to me that they got to your application by the time the letters were sent out!

Thank you for bringing me back to reality–I am so much more stressed about this than I ever expected to be! My son looked at me the other day and asked if I was really nervous about this whole process and I admitted I was and he said that he was wasn’t and he thought it would all work out in the end! When did he get so wise? lol (guess I did I good job with him–might have to work on myself a bit, though!) :)

jeez, i wish my mom could have helped me on my college applications…but noooo, she said I shouldn’t even go to college if I couldn’t fill out an application by myself.

^^^ a bit sarcasm maybe?lol

Wannabe,
I hope you’re not implying that because I am concerned about where my son goes to school I had anything to do with his applications…Your mom is right–you should be doing your own applications if you want to go to school! (and I’ve already graduated from college–been there, done that many moons ago!) Supporting someone and doing the work for them are two different things…don’t confuse it!

Has anyone registered for Tar Heel Shadow and heard anything back? I RSVP’ed two weeks ago, and I haven’t heard anything since. I’m starting to get a little worried.

I received an email confirmation about two weeks after my rsvp. I think you will probably be contacted shortly by the student who you will shadow - they just got back to school and are probably sorting it all out and making the assignments.
