Indiana University - Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

My daughter’s portal changed to admitted status three days back and just got an email stating ’ Congratulations on your admission to Indiana University Bloomington as a Pre-Business student with the intended major of Information Systems for Fall 2024. University Division will be your first academic home where you will work with advisors and prepare for admission to your selected program(s). Visit the University Division page on the Admissions site for more details about the process for your program’. She meets Kelly Direct Admission Criteria. Not sure based on this email whether she has been admitted to Kelly or not. Any one got similar email?

My D got a similar email but she had to make a review request as she did not qualify for auto direct admit. She applied test optional with a high GPA.

For some reason it sounds like your daughter was not directly admitted. When did your daughter apply and what were her stats? My daughter just got her email tonight but it says, Congratulations on your admission to Indiana University Bloomington and direct admission into the Kelley School of Business… If you know your daughter met all the criteria perhaps you should call admissions on Monday.

That’s correct. Pre Business means only admitted to IU generally under University Division. Did you son switch schools during high school? There have been many applicants that said they had GPA and test scores for auto admit to Kelley but did not qualify because they switched high schools.

Son was accepted to University Division Pre-Business. He did not do the request review yet but plans to. Does anyone know how long it takes to receive a decision typically? Is it after Feb 1st since that’s the deadline? Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Has anyone else been unable to access the application status portal today? Could be someone on my end but I’m getting a “site can’t be reached” message and everything else (including this board) is working fine. strange!

I got a message that they’re doing a system upgrade today from 7 am - 1 pm, so I think that’s why the status portion of the site is down.

Ahh, thank you for clarifying!

I posted my son’s acceptance and stats on 11/29. He received an email with the acceptance and Kelley admit today (12/1). Good luck everyone!

Not flexible in our case re: honors admit. My daughter got her official email at 8:45pm last night. Confirms she got into Kelley but did not mention Hutton Honors. 1560 SAT meets the 1500 standard, but her school does not provide weighted GPA’s. She has a 3.97 / 4.0 unweighted, and with all her honors, accelerated, and AT (her rigorous school’s version of AP) classes would certainly have well over the required 4.0. I’m guessing she’ll get in HH eventually, but this could’ve been a chance for them to get her to fall in love w / see herself at IU early in the process, which I thought was the point of releasing high stats decisions early. Also, my read of things is that any SSA /scholarship opportunities wouldn’t include a chance to apply for the Hutton Honors scholarships, since they are only for direct admits.

MarMae13 - my D submitted her petition in September 20. Still waiting for Kelley to make a decision. It’s been like 8 weeks much longer than last year.

How does merit work? Just got the direct admit to college arts and sciences email, but no mention of merit. (And no honors, but with a 4.1 and test optional I didn’t expect it). The letter says to submit to GSA, but no mention of SSA which I thought was merit.?

Merit comes later - no special application

Thanks, I looked at the GSA application which requires a 1000 word essay and seems to favor kids with financial hardships. So eventually they will email a merit offer?

Following!

In 2021 my OOS son received merit letter about a month after being admitted. But know the admission process is overall a lot different this year. SSA is separate process with invitation.

Am I right in thinking GSA is more need based? The essay question asks (among other things) them to describe any hardships they face.

I am not sure - my son received invitation but did not complete the SSA application. He still did get merit.

The merit was called “Deans Scholarship”
