I'm pretty upset that I'll have to pay like $400+ for college applications. It's like $50 for each school. Plus I'll have to send like SAT scores etc.!!! Is anyone else upset about this??

I'm not upset...But, this is about how much it is costing for me
Colleges (w/o UC) - $540
UC - $304
SAT - $100ish, if I remember correctly
ACT - Same
Transcripts from Comm. College - $32
Transcripts from CSU - $104

:/ So, yeah
I understand that they have to pay for employees, etc. I still think that $60ish is a lot, but understandable

That and AP exams....

yea

like 600 for apps
like 100 for ACTs
like 100 for PROFILE

Yes! I think everyone should post how much they spent on college stuff. : P It sucks, because all of my colleges are rather high reaches (even though I am sincerely interested in all of them), but yeah! I'm applying to 10 schools total.

I only took SAT I, SAT II, and ACT once: $131.50
Sent ACT scores to 7 schools: $59.50
Sent SAT scores to 6 schools: $57
Application fees for 8 schools: $545

TOTAL: $793

Good for the people with fee waivers.

wow, you guys have some pretty high fees, thats pretty ridiculous!
I'm ****ed becuase I can't decide if I like my ACT or SAT scores better so there goes 20$ to all 10-ish schools I'm applying to. So much for christmas money...

even with fee waivers it's expensive

And I hate how people apply to fewer schools than you.

Also is it best to apply to reach schools also??

$1000 +

...That's what I get for applying 15 schools. =(

yea ive spent over $1000

230 for applications
520 for SAT (SAT course etc)
10,000 hours spent on going to college.

my parents r pretty mad with all the app fees
oy it better be worth it all

Out of my son's 10 apps, we only had to pay fees on two. Waived for visting campus, interviewing, on line etc.

Here's my breakdown:

ACT testing: $89 (2 times)
SAT testing: $43 (1 time)
ACT score reports thus far: $14.50 (1 priority)
Application fees: **
Loyola New Orleans - free
American University - free
University of Nebraska Lincoln - $45
University of Minnesota Twin Cities - $45
Loyola Chicago - free
Tulane University - free
Seton Hall - free
Indiana University Bloomington - $50
NYU - $65
Georgetown - $65
University of Florida - $30
Santa Clara - $55
Southern Methodist - $60
University of South Carolina - $50
Northeastern - $65
Macalester $40
**Total application fees: $570

Grand total thus far: $716.50
Haven't done the Profile yet either, also this doesn't include college visit costs

I'm fortunate that thus far, all the schools I've applied to have allowed for my scores to be attached to my transcript, so I don't have to send out dozens of score reports.

at least you're not international. I have to dhl all my school forms, which is 232 rmb (~$31) EACH. so $310 for initial apps, then double that for when mid-year reports come. and if any college should lose something (cough, yale), I have to send it all again. and this is just for mail!!

Yeah, I just calculated my total. It's somewhere around the $900 region :-/

Yet, if it means getting in, it'll all be worth it.

Be glad if your parents are paying for your ****; I've had to pay for all of my own SATs, subject tests, APs, transcripts, sent scores, AND app fees. Yaaay for working at Sonic.

I'm applying to ten schools and it's been killer =/

I can top yours silent.. I paid for all of my AP tests, my standardized tests, my application fees, my college visits (for both my mom and I - airfare, hotel, everything), my transcripts, scores being sent, et al. ON TOP of paying for my private school tuition, which after my academic scholarship is around $5,000 a year.

This is why I work 40 hours a week. I envy rich kids.

I'm only a junior now, but I've done some calculating as to what my expenses should be for college stuff next year and it does not look good at all. It sucks when you can't qualify for fee waivers, but it still seems like SO much to pay otherwise.

I'm fortunate and very grateful that my state/school/district? pays for all AP exams that you're registered for, or else that would be a HUGE burden.
