Is UCI so much to ask?

Riveting. Read my above post. And please move along back to the UCI forums. You have nothing constructive to do here.

@Dasherwinator:
I asked you to tell me what UCI was known for, not why you feel it's a better school...

What the the hell does UCI do better than anyone else? It's a mediocre school, and rightfully deserving of it's ranking behind LA, UCB, SD, UCD, and in some circles SB.

Also, if you're really just some freshmen mad because he didn't get into San Diego, I bet it really stings that you didn't make it because of the point system, huh? HAHA.

@sndebrosse
So if I want to become Batman or write poetry in the future, I should go to UCI?

lol i got into cornell, i go to uci for free.

now lets discuss sd's non existent law school, and their non existent undergraduate business admin program.

lets talk about the fact that uci is top 10 in organic chemistry, lets talk about the fact that there is a .04 gpa difference between sd and uci for transfers enrolled.

lets talk about the fact that sd does not have d1 sports.

Yes, I was rejected from UCSD.
So now I can't defend my school without me having some sort of vendetta?

I harbor no negative feelings toward UCSD. In fact, if you look through my posts (as you so aptly did to find my post from a year ago in the ucsd forum), you'll see that I consistently defend my school against misconceptions, not attack SD.

Btw, I am quite happy at UCI. I was accepted here into the CHP and as a regents scholar. If I had been accepted at ucsd, I probably would have given up the money at uci because I was caught up in the idea everyone has on this forum that SD is somehow second only to UCLA and Cal. Fortunately, I made the best financial and academic decision (I am a humanities major.)

dude seriously, i didnt even know people actually cared about sd until i met some transfer students. point is, you cant say ucsd is > uci, its apples to oranges. uci is a fking lot better in some areas, ucsd is a fking lot better in some areas. the criteria for ranking is for the most part funding. if you were not uneducated, you cc students would realize this.

and again, to reiterate for the illiterate elitists, i DID NOT SAY UCI>UCSD. I SAID IN SOME AREAS, UCI IS FAR AHEAD SD. IN OTHER AREAS, SD IS > THAN UCI.

Actually,

"uci is not easier to get into than ucsd"

is what you initially said. This cc student is telling you that you are wrong.

He is wrong. 3.27 vs 3.31 is a stupid, negligible, statistically insignificant difference (greater than 5% is significant if you have ever taken statistics)

Do you guys know if tag students get notified earlier since they are already in?

Wrong thread Art...

As a former CC student, who is currently spanking the majority of his fellow students (both Transfers and those that came in as Freshmen), you're bashing on CC students isn't very accurate.

Lack of D1 sports or a law school, does not a school make.

UCI is, and forever will be known as the school that has an overwhelming amount of Asian students. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not something to boast about either.

what will ucsd be known as? wait....
47% of sd is asian
51& of uci is asian

again, you are overplaying differences. not only is the difficulty of admissions negligible in difference, but also the amount of asians

this thread is not about UCI admittance? start if off like that...

"(greater than 5% is significant if you have ever taken statistics)"

This is what you said. I have not been able to find any statistics that suggest the difference in acceptance rate is less than 5%, so the difference must be significant.

No, I have not considered any majors independently.

uci ? ucsd, where ? may indciate <,>, =, or =/=

absurd topic plain and simple.

lets just end it with this post, as the OP was not even about this topic.

thats what im saying. you cant simply say ucsd>uci, thats just misguided, and quite frankly, stupid. both schools are very, very good at certain things. but sd has no law school or undergraduate business admin

No, you just said that UCSD is better in Biology.

So I disproved that.

And are you seriously calling everyone here uneducated? Seriously? You're an entering freshman. We're entering juniors. If you think that transfers are stupid, then you chose the wrong school to attend, my friend. About half your graduating class will consist of transfer students.

And this really needs to be said:

when people compare large universities, you're generally comparing engineering, medical, law, and business schools. Not creative writing/MFA programs.

Since UCSD doesn't have business/law schools, you obviously can't use those as criteria. And before you try it: just because UCSD doesn't have these schools, doesn't mean that they are inapt to.

I am a 2nd year at uci. The transfer students are the ones in bio which fail every class they take. also, on another note....read the text you quoted. your answer is there. UCI is alot better in some areas, ucsd is better than uci in some areas. neither is overall greater than the other. READ WHAT I TYPE, JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!!!
