They just updated the FAQs and that is good.
@georgemk what did they change?
@Georgemk, actually the FAQs has been the same for awhile. I check them almost everyday for the past month to see if it changes. I think the FAQs are the same that they have been the whole time, but I do think if there was going to be a change in the timeline it would be on there or somewhere else.
I was really hoping I’d hear something today before the weekend… doesn’t look like I will
@kpcosmic, I was hoping we would hear something. I guess there is always next week.
I know the wait is difficult, but well worth it. I am a 2014 JKCF undergraduate transfer scholar and was about out of my mind last year at this time. They normally notify your school first and give them until Thursday of that week to “surprise” you in class or do some major announcement. On the Thursday (or Friday) of that week they send out emails. I think they were expecting somewhere around 5000 applicants this year. Good luck to all of you, and I will be seeing some of you at Scholars Weekend in Virginia at the end of July
I’d like to add that all of you who have applied are truly amazing students and individuals, qualities that will carry you through to graduation at a four year university, no matter the outcome of the JKCF. Continue to follow your dreams because you definitely have what it takes to succeed!
@greekgirl2005 Thanks for the words of encouragement! Congratulations on being one of last year’s winners
Hi everyone, I’m glad I came across this message board. I for one am too waiting on a decision and it sure feels like time cannot move any slower. Good luck everyone!
@greekgirl2005, what college did you decide to go to?
I am attending Texas Wesleyan University for my undergrad. It is one of the few universities that offer my particular major (Comparative Religious Studies). I will either go to TCU or Columbia for my grad work. Which schools are you looking at?
@greekgirl2005, I want to go to Drexel University for fashion design and maybe double major in business. I definitely want go to Drexel for my master’s degree if I am not able to get my bachelor’s in fashion design. If I am not able to go to Drexel, I probably will go to University of Maryland for my bachelor’s in business and Drexel for master’s in fashion design.
That’s an impressive school, so many campus clubs and organizations to help you settle in! And a double major with business is a smart move, it is definitely what companies are looking for these days. I would imagine you will be able to accomplish this, with or without the JKCF scholarship- sounds like you are very focused on your path
And btw, last year they sent emails to those who were not selected, and notified winners by phone. It takes a while to notify all winners, so you may see some people on here with good news before you have heard anything. If you don’t receive the email it’s a very good sign.
@greekgirl2005, at this point I’m ready to know anything. I’m kind of hoping that they stick to calling scholars like I was told they would because I will probably know sooner. It would be cool to find out in school, but since one of my classes was accelerated, another was online, and two are on campus. I don’t feel like I’m on campus ever.
My professor cancelled lab the day I was informed. Everyone showed up at my classroom to announce it, and the class was empty. I was called to the library (I had already gone home) and they did an informal announcement there-- in front of students who could care less lol. That afternoon I got my call from the foundation. http://www.tccd.edu/magazine/volume-01/great-work-pays-dividends/
@greekgirl2005, I don’t think they would announce it in either of my classes unless they tell my professor first. Both of my classes on campus are three hours each, but one has has a lot of power equipment in it and the other is figure drawing class. So one class might be a little dangerous to surprise a student and the other has a nude model so that would be straight up awkward.
Hahahaha!!
I am really nervous about this Scholarship. I read on here some people said late March and some said late April. I hope its April. My nerves cant take much more of this, So does anyone know for sure when they are going to start announcing? I was reading on the college scholarship the first person who was told they got it was March 25. They were told mid-march. Does that mean we will be next week or next few weeks? AHHH I cannot take the suspense anymore. It is a life-changing amount of money. Any updates?
@FamilyCounciling, I’m honestly hoping it isn’t late April. I don’t think it will be because they told @FutureNurse2018 late April about two weeks ago and the guy I have been talking to is set on the late March/ early April date. I also feel like if it was late April the guy I’m talking to would knwo that since @FutureNurse2018 got late April from the foundation a few weeks ago. Especially since every time I talk to him, he speaks to someone higher up than him.
