Congratulations to those with good news! Hopefully the rest of us will hear something soon. My PTK advisor had not received anything, but the last time I spoke to him was this morning. He may be waiting to tell me until Monday because there will be a farewell to the old officers, me included, and a new officer induction. I would rather know now. This waiting is killing me. What is making it so hard is that I do not have an in-state school to fall back on to save money since we have to move. I spoke to Penn State this morning and she said they could defer my offer of admission until next year so that I could earn in-state status, but I really do not want to take a year off.

@NNguyen: Did you get Regents Scholarship?

I spoke to someone at Jack Kent Cooke today, and she said that recipients would be notified in the next few days. I asked if college advisers would be notified first, and she said that they would not. Clearly at least some advisers have been notified. Does anyone else feel like they are playing mind games?

CABell: I agree! It seems like there is different information coming from everywhere, it’s definitely building up hype and anticipation, but as we can see by this message board, all that wondering is just a bit stressful. I need exact dates and information! :)

oh gosh… I’d love it if everyone on here got it! Seems like we represent different areas of the country? with different majors/goals as well.

Do you have to do this your 2nd year or can you apply your first year?

Hi everyone--

I am new to this thread, but I see that my friend, Jim, started it =) I am in the same boat as all of you… waiting… waiting… waiting… oh so painful!! BTW- my name is Maria and I am from New Jersey. Good luck to everyone! Hang in there… we will all know soon enough.

@emoryguy you have to have sophomore status at the time of application with plans to enroll in a 4-year the following fall. You also must be nominated by your 2-year university, you’re not able to apply directly. For my, one of my professors sent my info to my community college’s selection committee to be nominated, then he worked with me to get my application together and then the selection committee made their decision.

My CC has about 40,000 enrolled students over 4 campuses - I’m not sure how many applications my school looked through to choose it’s nominee, but heck, even if I don’t win the grand prize… I feel honored enough that my school believed in me that much :)

fingers still crossed for us all X

@howardyan2: No, since I applied to College of Letter and Science.

Does anyone have any news? Any email notifications?

no still waiting

@ southseattle & shreddr –> have you two received an email notification?!

I just called JKC foundation and the lady said if you do not get an email today it means you are not a recipient. She said the foundation is notifying recipients directly :(((((((

Has anyone that has already been contacted as a scholarship recipient been notified by email?

If not, then I’m guessing only the school is notified of any scholarship recipients, and those that are not notified by their respective colleges might be informed through email.

Either way…it’s April 30th, the last day to notify scholarship recipients.

Winners, please keep us posted if you received any formal email regarding the scholarship.

For the rest of us…good luck!!! :D

omggg

good luck then everyone…

I was notified that I won by my advisor and read the email she received from the JKC, but I have not received a personal email yet if this helps.

@southseattlecc: That’s a little bit encouraging, can you let us know as soon as you get the email from the JKC please.

I’ve kind of given up hope already. but i’m really glad you were all going through this with me! It would have been awful to be wondering all by myself.

@ heyitslisa i feel the same, glad this thread got started!

i dont even want to look at my email. Im on the east coast so i feel like i should have had it by now if i was going to get it tooday

It’s not too late on the east coast yet. I’m sure shreddr and southseattle will let us know as soon as they get the email. It’s just frustrating to get into Rice and know that I may not even be able to go simply because of money :-

Hello Everyone,

I just now contacted JKCF and they have informed me that they will be sending out email notifications starting today to sometime over next week. At this point it’s still fair game. Whether we get it or not…I’m sure we’ll all be successful one way or another :).

Judging from the fact that even the scholarship receipts haven’t received a formal email, I’m guessing they’re going to take today and the next few days to inform all recipients personally.

Good luck to everyone once again!! Hang in there :D

P.S. The administrator will be calling me in a couple of minutes to answer more specific questions. I’ll keep you guys posted on what she says!

Sincerely,
Naziya
