JMU Fall 2013 Transfer

It’s definitely my first choice, I’ve been accepted to mason and odu already so I’m just waiting on jmu to make the decision. Couldn’t stay at radford, not for me.

Same with me, definitely my first choice. I’ve applied to two other schools that I wouldn’t mind going to (Vtech and vcu). I really like jmu when I visited, everything seemed nearly ideal. Same thing with me for radford. Why would I spend 2 years a community college to go to a school that I could have gotten into out of high school, plus I didn’t like the feel of the school and the student body.

Well I liked radford a lot, but just the school. I got in to the nursing school and everything but I got so fed up with the constant party scene, the surrounding town, the distance from home, and some specific people. It’s like, if radford was located in a larger town, I would have stayed. I don’t like how alcohol obsessed a lot if the students were.

Did anybody else receive a handbook from a jmu?

I have not. When did you get a handbook?

I haven’t received one.

I got it about 2 weeks ago, but I don’t think it means anything.

What exactly is it?

it is about what majors JMU offers and some info on the school

I got that before I applied after my tour, and yeah basically it just talks about majors and stats. I’m getting so impatient waiting! I called today and the receptionist just said we would hear “mid to late april” but it seems they said that in previous years but this is the week decisions came out like last year and the year before. Hopefully we will know by friday?

@njdrummond the transfer thread from last year has people finding out this week so i’m thinking (hoping) it will be this week for us too.

Yeah last year the 11 and the previous was mailed out around the same date

That’s what I’ve heard…i keep checking mymadison frantically, I’m just so ready to know where I’ll be next year!

I hear you. I’ve been a so nervous for about a month now.

Hopefully tomorrow is the day!

lboone, what makes you think it’s tomorrow? I would love for it to be that soon!
And I know, I’ve been waiting since June 3rd, precisely to know where I’ll be next year. I like to have things planned out lol.

Hey, I have already been admitted and am attending JMU now, but my boyfriend is in the same transfer boat as you guys are. I just wanted to tell you guys, if this helps, that they post decisions in the later afternoon usually. So be looking around 3-4. If you have any questions about JMU, which you probably know more about it here than I do, I can try to help you out as best I can. I hope you guys get in! J-M-U Dukes!!

let’s hope tomorrow is the day!!

Jmu girl how would you describe dorms for upper class men. I’m still deciding if i want to get one or live off campus.

The upper class men pretty much just have sections of the Freshmen dorms on campus. There is one off-campus dorm for upper class men called Rockingham Hall. I would not recommend it, although it is a renovated hotel and you get a parking pass, there is no security and, from what I have heard, rats. The older halls on campus are in pretty good condition and are closer in relation to the Quad. I live on the East side of campus and will next year as well. The dorms are air conditioned and have wireless internet. I think that living on campus is an interesting experience, because dorms are such a unique environment, so I would recommend trying to get a dorm on the East Side, those are Shenandoah and Chesapeake, the third, Potomac, is all freshmen. I hope that answered your question.
