JMU Fall 2013 Transfer

Jmu girl, do you know what rent rates are in the Harrisonburg area? I’m looking for a one bedroom. I just don’t know whether living Ina dorm or off campus is better moneywise

It did, thanks. How would you rank all the dorms?

Whats the on-campus party scene like, especially for someone new on campus. And also is the guy to girls ratio really noticeable?

Rent is about $300- $500 depending on which apartment complex or townhouses you look at. For a one-bedroom, it is a bit closer to $600, I am afraid. Honestly, if you go onto Facebook and go to the JMU pages, there are ones for Housing with people still looking for roommates next year, those might be worth a look. When you live on campus, they make you buy a meal plan, and pay for room and board. So, you pay about $4000 living on campus. But living off campus, you have to take into account all of the other costs of living. So I guess it kind of depends on what you are looking for in a place to live.

Overall, the Bluestone dorms are nice because they are close to everything. The Lakeside ones are small and kind of not as good. The Hillside ones are kind of hot, and the marching band practice fields are right there, so it gets loud really early in the morning. The Village is pretty average. And Skyline is the best because it is the newest, but the worst if you are not a science major.

I hate to tell you, but I have never been to a party. I am very focused on graduating early, so I have a lot more to do than most students here.

The guys to girls ratio is really noticeable sometimes but not always. What is noticeable is the lack of diversity here. Besides that, it is pretty normal.

Hey guys!

So I am also waiting to hear from JMU. I am transferring from nova. I already got accepted into VCU. I visited this past weekend and I love the campus and everyone is just friendly. I love the city scene. I haven’t visited JMU yet. Everyday I check the mail so let me know if you guys get your acceptance letters.

I am currently a freshmen at Coastal Carolina University I got a 3.3 GPA first semester and was put on the Dean’s List Ill have 29 credits done by the end of the year (14 for first semester) can someone let me know my chances please!

Decisions are up. I just got admitted!!! Mariibel you need to go to my Madison they should have sent you a links to get to it. I wish everyone luck and hopefully you guys will be joining me as a duke next year!!!

unfortunately I’ve been denied.

I was also denied, which is frustrating since last year I was waitlisted with a much weaker application.

Accepted! I just screamed like a little girl.

I just got a decision and I have been waitlisted… I did not know that it is possible for transfers to get waitlisted… At least I got into Virginia Tech!

I was denied :(

Greenshark I would go to Tech over JMU anyday. I got into mason looks like ill be heading to fairfax because VCU is def not for me. Congrats to all that got in!

Waitlisted… Any ideas about how I can get in now? Besides boosting current grades… I really want this

Is there anyone else who hasn’t received a decision? I haven’t gotten an email, there’s nothing new in MyMadison, etc. I got my “your application is complete” email from JMU back in late January so there shouldn’t be anything else they need from me.

I checked and I GOT IN!

Congrats to the accepted. For the wait listed I would call application processing and ask them.

To those of you who were also accepted, how many years do you plan to spend there? Mine is a max of three because of nursing school.

Probably 3.
