Today I got a new macbook from CompUSA (tip: definitely buy one from the Apple Store and not there). I"m a new apple switcher so it'll be fun to explore this new os. I'll post some of my impressions soon and if you have any questions about one, post here!

Congratulations; I hope you enjoy it! I switched in June and haven't looked back yet. :)

cjbenton1988: did CompUSA give you your student discount ($100 off) and your free (with 100% Apple rebate) 2gb iPod nano (with $20 student discount)?

All sales through September 6th qualify. Of course Apple offers the student discount, I doubt that's passed on through a reseller.

Do tell, and compare your experiences from before Mac and after Mac.

Hope it was a black one, lest it smudge!
Still, they're all sleek pieces of industrial design.

Black ones are terrible. $250 for the a black case instead of a white case? Total ripoff.

It's only $150 extra for the black case, first of all.

Second of all, purchases made through resellers do not qualify for the student discount OR the free iPod nano. They must be purchased through apple (either online or at an apple store) and appear on the same reciept to recieve the rebate.

I get mine tonight :)
It'll be my first Apple and I'm excited!

Does your Apple store also give you the free printer/scanner/copier? Well, with the rebate I guess like the I-Pod...I'm excited for the I-Pod and printer

I got mine about a month ago, and love it. It's my first experience with a mac.

this is nothing but good to hear- I'm looking to buy a mac.

BTW yeah the black one is $150 more- ripoff

Just got my ipod rebate today, it was processed very quickly as I only sent it in about two weeks ago.

You guys do realise that the black one has better hardware in it than the white one?

LOL. Sorry the color stuff is cracking my **** up.

Just got home from the Apple Store with my WHITE Macbook and BLACK I-Pod. Not that the color matters to me, the guy didn't even mention it. And the only color I-Pod they had left in stock was the black so I was like whatever. I got a case for it anyway.

FYI, the black system has 20 GB more than the white. But I dont care...I'm not a high-tech computer person.

The black one comes with a larger hard drive, yes, but if you upgrade the white MacBook to the same specifications as the black, it still costs $150 less.

It'd be cheaper to install your own, bigger HD, than spend $150 additional just for 20 extra gigs. I bought the mid level mac book because of the upgraded processor and dvd burner, which is something you can't really change.

No, it doens't cost $150 for 20 gigs. It costs $150 for the black case. You can upgrade the white one with 20 extra gigs to make its spec identical to the black specs.

a identically upgraded white macbook would cost less than a blackbook. regardless of how much more a blackbook costs, some are willing to pay for it, even if it may not be perhaps the best value wise. it's a cache thing, i guess people can spend whichever way they wish.

anyhow, i got the lowest range macbook with 1.83mhz but i had to return it because of a defect with the trackpad clicker. since i bought it through a reseller (not thru apple), it's going to take a while (i had to UPS ground it). i'm thinking about going to a store and picking one up today since i can't wait 2 weeks. i LOVE the macbook - everything just works. no sudden crashes, no freezing IE windows. plus I really like the keyboard and glossy screen.

Congratulations on your purchase!

I considered a macbook for a while... but I still decided to stick with ASUS!

:-D

mine is currently installing Brazilian Portuguese...not really sure why but oh well
