You received the proper answer untill the results of the first round are tabulated and annalyzed. Don’t try to read into an answer that was meant to be ambiguous. Since the chances of everyone in round 1 accepting an offer are almost nil, I would certainly expect further offers.

The waitlist sucks…

I stand corrected on a past statement or prediction. Based on existing conditions, it would appear that there will only be one more major round of WL offers. After that, I would expect no more than just “fill in” offers based on summer melt. Good luck to everyone.

“Based on existing conditions”

Wait, what existing conditions?

Based on the fact that the second wave was expected to happen sometime last week/this weekend and since it didn’t, it means that they might only have a final wave?

oh, and anyone have an idea what WashU’s yield is?
i can’t seem to find whether or not they post yield in a news article like some of the ivies do.

any calls today?? =/

not yet. It’s about 3:00 PM on the East Coast.

What time do they usually call??

If you read the very first post. He/she posted at 3:30 PM

I guess it wasn’t today.

I don’t think it’s today. anyone knows if they’re going to call this week or not? I really can’t wait till next week, cause I’m international student and going back to after graduation and I have to get my I-20 form…before I leave U.S…

Well…the first round acceptanees have 10 days to decided after they get their acceptance packets. So I’d wait a couple more days! Although i pray its gonna come tomorrow…by some miracle…>< sigh Time’s kinda running out on me too

WU admissions is concerned about (expecting?) more “summer melt” than normal this year. So… waitlisters who really want to come–hang in there if you can.

what is summer melt?

Every year, a percentage of admitted students will change their minds about attending a school. They forfeit their deposits before fall classes begin. This reduction in admissions occurs during the summer months, so hence, “summer melt”. I do not know what WU’s average “summer melt” numbers are, but the uncertainty in our economy suggests that the amount of “summer melt” this year will be higher than normal.

ahh, that’s what i guessed. I have a few waitlists i’m waiting on, not too sure if i would leave washu if taken off though. If waitlists usually take place during the first half of may, give or take 2 more weeks for colleges to adjust for that summer melt, do you think the entire waitlist should be done around the end of may? When do all waitlists end? is it June 30?

This year, most WL offers will be made by the last week of May or first week of June. There will be dribs and drabs that will continue throughout the summer. Although the summer WL offer numbers will be few and far between. Most schools are anticipating higher than normal summer melt this year and are adjusting their numbers to take this into account.

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but here is the latest news release from WashU:Wait List Update
Students who were admitted to the fall 2009 class had until May 1 to accept our offer of admission. Our freshman class is now full, making it very unlikely that we will be able to admit additional students. All students on the Wait List will hear from us by late June (at the very latest) with a final word on their Wait List status. As always, if there are students we are unable to admit, we would be happy to work with those students on the transfer process after a semester or year of college elsewhere. Students are welcome to call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (800) 638-0700 with any questions.

no more hope =(
