has anybody still not received anything?

I got this :

“You should know that you have been designated as a semifinalist, in the event that additional openings become available. Should a spot become available, you will be invited to participate in this summer’s program.”

Does the waitlist ever get chosen or are the spots usually fill immediately?

Open it : ) and still nothing here.

Maybe they send out rejections first :)

this waiting is so annoying! do you think they’ll send messages for rejections as well? or the people who are rejected just won’t receive e-mails?

^haha, no don’t worry, of course they’ll send messages to those rejected:ALL APPLICANTS WILL RECEIVE NOTIFICATIONS OF THEIR STATUS BY EMAIL ON MARCH 17, 2012." This includes “ALL” both accepted and rejected lol.

Ok that’s good because I was kinda freaking out haha I can only imagine how college admission notifications will go next year lol

where does it say on the lead website that decisions would come out on mar 17?

^ it says that when you log in as a returning applicant on their website.

Kinda losing credibility at this point…

^same lol i still haven’t gotten anything

Got rejected… Really bummed…

Honestly though I’d make it with a 205 PSAT, 3.8 GPA, several business related ECs, etc.

Being Asian doesn’t help too much either I presume…

@Honorlions

I know how you feel. I heard that the program doesn’t accept many asian. There is around 1 asian on each site or something.

A bunch of kids have similar stats honorlions. I’m almost certain decisions rest mostly on essays/recommendations.

I’m still confused why most people, myself included, haven’t heard back from LEAD.

Regected:
SAT: 2240
GPA: 3.6 (all honors AP). 2nd weakest part of my app
Recs: Very good imo
ECs: Pretty solid, published finance author, FBLA President, Business Owner, Stock Trader, Captain of Golf Team, ect.
Essays: Decent, there were some typos though.
Biggest Weakness: Indian (said Asian on my app) and high income.

Takeaways: Overall not surprised and still am a big fan of the program and greatly respect its mission. I am not bitter about being regretted in large part because of my race. Lets face it, this program was created to help underprivileged minorities and it does just that. Might apply to LBW at Wharton but don’t feel like shelling out the 6k. Congrats to all that were accepted. BTW the acceptance rate is now around 21%

waitlisted, but that’s ok. it’s a program for the underrepresented (which i didn’t know until i saw alumni photos) and had i known i wouldn’t have applied. chinese males are not underrepresented in cs.

fyi, 4.0 unweighted gpa, strong ecs, xcountry, swimming blah, blah.

it was my essays that got me on the waitlist and not just tossed. people should work on those.

good luck.

The e-mail that I received said “You should know that you have been designated as a semifinalist, in the event that additional openings become available”

Do somebody knows how large is the wait list and if it’s mean any possibility to get a spot? Thanks

Anyone apply to LEAD through NAFOA? If you’ve never heard of NAFOA, then you don’t worry about it - it’s a finance organization for Native peoples. Just curious if there are any Native students on this thread…

Just from the small sample on this thread, it seems like the rejections and waitlists might be going out first. Hopefully no news is good news (until it is actually real news which is good news).

I wish your theory were true, but I doubt it, cause if that were the case then that’d mean LEAD would have already sorted out who’s being rejected, accepted, or waitlisted, and all decisions would have been finalized and sent by the official date - March 17th. So we’re still in for this ride man.
