Thanks @nerdess especially for number 2!!!

@nerdess thanks for the helpful info. just a quick question do you know anything about the achievement scholarship? like did you apply for that one as well?

@gman333 and @purple4 np!

Regarding the achievement scholarship: I did not apply, although I have some information about it. Do you have questions?

@nerdess Yes i do a few days go i got this email that said your scholarship application for the achievement award is still under consideration and that finalist will be notified April 2nd. Also i know you said CAA and the office of ungrad. dont communicate much but i was just wondering if this email had anything to do with admissions or making it to semi-final for the scholarship itself

@nerdess were you from in or out of state?

@gman333 I am in-state.

I highly doubt that the email you’ve already received has anything to do with admission, unfortunately. You can see that the reason why the finalists will be notified on April 2nd is because the CAA office wants a list of accepted students to keep (and the rest to discard) before they send out their final decisions. I know it’s not what you want to hear but I don’t think the email from a few days ago has any positive or negative bearing on your admission status.

Oh okay thanks for an honest opinion! @nerdess

I was inquiring about the leadership award @nerdess

What is your take on that @nerdess

I second @gman333’s request, @nerdess

I’d go with nerdess; I don’t think CAA takes part in the admission office’s decision-making. It’s more likely the other way around.

@Keepyourshirton Yes, but what I’m confused about is why we got these emails in the first place - especially so close to the release date - if they’re not tied to admissions at all… I’m sure NOT taking these as likely letters, but might they possibly be good signs? @nerdess

@Keepyourshirton @jackson61 @nerdness

Agreed! If these types of emails are completely random then they can just say that it’s random. Why spend time sending these things if they know the majority of applicants to Cal and to the scholarship(s) will eventually get denied? I’m definitely coming back tomorrow when decisions come out and confirm/disprove any theories, lol

@alwayswonderines Up for creating an “Leadership Award Application/Overnight Stay Program Invitation Recipient Results” thread? :D

I’d rather say there are no causal links between the two things. But correlations? Definitely. You odds of getting accepted are higher if CAA thinks you are qualified, but that never indicates the admission people’s opinion.

@jackson61 When the time comes for decisions, yes!

Get some sleep guys …tomorrow will be a heck of a day :)

5:00 PM, right?

Yep it will be. Best of luck people, hope I see you all in Cal!

Just found this thread. I also got the invite for the Overnight Stay program. Best of luck for tomorrow, guys!
