Letter?

I don't think my midyear grades were a factor in the letter. I didn't turn my grades in until Feb. 11/12ish.

I got a letter! I live in Oregon.

Yay congrats, even though I already knew. lol :p

anyone overseas received this letter?

I am from overseas and I got this email from the dean of international admission. It basically notify me of a missing high school dipolma and they have looked into my app. And then they add this:

...Looking at your application it is clear that you are poised to become a leader at whatever school you attend, and then at whatever you choose to do after. UVA prides itself on its student leadership opportunities and I encourage you to look carefully at its programs in government and its opportunities in student council and many of the over 400 student groups that are here...

I got this on 31/1. Can anyone tell me does it reveal anything or just a normal letter? anxious

Btw, my test scores are not really good (SATI 1320 V:590 M:730, SATII: 7002C/600/660)
But good recs and ecas. That's all.

I think the email basically tries to persuade you to continue the application process and not withdraw your application. From their point of view, your missing diploma might indicate that you no longer want to apply to UVA. I think they like your application. :)

Tenniscraze, I'm an international student as well, and I haven't received any letter.

Has any international student received anything that might even remotely hint that they're already in? I haven't received anything from the admissions office at all.

Well,I'm an international student...and UVa did send me a mail. The mail was the UVa International Newsletter which I guess all of you did get. Apart from that,I haven't received anything...so...

i know this is a bit too much..but if they like my app, does that mean i'm likely in/not likely to be immediatly rejected at least? (I love UVA!)

I hope it means that if your midyears are good, you're more likely to get accepted... at least I hope this is the case.

whats your midyear grades legend

We only give out grades from A to F. The ones I hand in are predicted. All As with two Cs. I hope they know that the ALs in my country are much more harder and it's difficult to get even a B...

crichessill: All As

legendofmax: Predicted grades not= actual grades in final transcript

What country do you live in nt? I got the International Newsletter by email, not by mail.

geniezclone : I'm so sorry, got you confused there. I meant e-mail when I said mail. I'm so used to e-mail being the default mail system! I'll edit that post now. Anyway, I live in Oman.

(hm..just realized I don't have the option of editing that post!)

Has anyone called the admissions office to determine what the letter really means?

nt: LoL... :) For a while I thought UVA didn't want to waste its postage stamp on me.

I don't think they want to tell you what it really means, since they can't explicitly say anything right now. I think they'll just say that they give those to very competitive applicants and not everyone gets one.
