Likely letters are coming in!

I'm a little worried about missing school too, but I'm still going. I'm staying with a guy from Lexington that seems nice enough. I don't want to mention names (even though it's on the internet and you can obviously access it as a finalist), but the room is on the second floor of Graham-Lees.

Hey, just checking in.

I got a likely letter today- not from Dartmouth (obviously), but from Wellesley. It was so nice to get some good news :).

Yeah.:):cool::D :)

CONGRATULATIONS Elizabeth, Great news at the end of a rough week. More great news is still coming,

CONGRATS ELIZABETH!!!!

Wellesley is an awesome school! I've always had a special place in my heart for Wellesley--you know, the whole "strong woman" image...

Is Wellesley one of your top choices??

I'm not sure yet...still trying to figure out the whole no-guy thing, and whether I could handle it. It's certainly above our state university, which is the only other place I'd heard from so far. I have to say, they've definitely risen in my eyes since they were the first to send happy news- and the letter was so sweet! I need to go to campus and get a better feel for the school. We may actually go visit tomorrow :).

Congratulations Elizabeth! I just realized that, since most (all?) of your schools are in New England, we could all still hang out sometime. I'm sure that the rest of the letters from your schools will be good news, too.

All, except Middlebury, which I decided recently that I'm really not all that interested in :).

elizabeth - not in any attempt to sway you, but just by way of information. Wellesley definitely does not give a feeling of being tucked away in a nunnery. Even in my day -way, waaayy back - there were plenty of men on campus for various activities. We had just started the MIT relationship and I took numerous courses there. Don't know how many MITs take Wellesley classes - that hadn't taken off yet back then. You will make your own decision about the pros and cons of predominant female presence in classroom discussion, leadership positions, etc. But Wellesley is a wonderful option - just look at the women who have come out of there in so many fields (journalism, film, government....). Good luck in whatever you decide.

From your cc friend and Wellesley alum

I appreciate the perspective of an alumna- I don't know any personally. The lack of guys is really my only qualm about Wellesley, so I'm glad to hear that it might not be a huge problem.

Also, Dartmouth '09s: Wellesley has an exchange program with Dartmouth- it's very possible that I could spend a semester with you guys as an exchange student.

congratulations Elizabeth! I know how it feels to get a validation from some college, any college. I didn't want to go to Rutgers, but it felt nice to know that SOMEbody wanted me, lol!

Congrats Elizabeth, I know its like a breath of fresh air, I felt like I was in a slump I could not get out of until I got my likely letter from Dartmouth. Like Bluirinka it felt so great that I did not have to go to UC Irvine, and my greatest fear was alleviated

Way to go Elizabeth! I'm sure plenty more are on the way.

Awesome, it doesn't get better than Wellesley

I would have no problem with no guys, but then again I am a guy.

I don't understand why they would send out two likely letters. The "there is no question" letter is what I recieved. It just says you will be admitted and does not tell you about Dimensions, or anything else like that. I'm hoping supplementary materials will come letting us know about these sort of things.

However, the second one is very similar to UVa's. It discusses Dimensions (UVa's letter discussed some of its programs), and it says "very likely", rather than "there is no question." They both also had some ominous words about "our application review process" being incomplete. Of course, they both still mean you're in, but I wonder why Dartmouth would send out two different versions.

Joey

I just got a likely phone call from the head of the local alumni chapter. He told me my letter was on the way then invited me to an admitted students party in April. I'm extremely impressed; these Dartmouth alumni really know how to recruit students and they like to have parties all the time.

wow! I'm incredibly jealous but congrats!

wow congrats :)

Ooh, an alum party. There was one here just about 2 weeks ago; I thought it would be really awkward, but it wasn't at all. The people were awesome, and SO friendly. . .just another one of the things that reinforces for me the fact that Dartmouth is an awesome school. The alums never stop singing its praises.

I just got my "There is no question" letter! EEEEEEEK!
Dartmouth just rose 100000x in my estimation.

Good luck everyone in the 2nd/3rd wave! :)

Thanks, parel! And congrats! Getting a letter is quite an accomplishment. ;)
