Has anyone lived without a TV in their room/apartment during the school year?

I realized that I don't watch much TV unless my favorite TV show comes on, but I can easily find the episode online the next day. I know schoolwork should come first.

I haven’t watched television at home in ages. Hulu has most of the shows I’m interested in watching, and you can generally catch football / hockey/ etc games at the local bar or at a friend’s.

+1 for Hulu and other similar sites. I’m not even in college yet but I’ve started turning off the TV more and more. It acts as background noise most of the time now.

I rarely watch the tv anymore. Usually I just catch a few news stories here and there, and maybe part of a weekly show. Maybe it’s because I don’t have cable tv? Now if you said living without the internet…:O

i dont have a tv… so ive grown accustomed to it. LOL i used to do busy work with the tv on, so it was a hard habit to change. haha i use my computer a lot, and listen to music a lot in order to get otherwise tedious tasks done.

I don’t really watch that much TV either since I have my laptop to occupy me. It’s not too bad and as previous posters have said, you can use the internet to find episodes online, such as hulu, youtube, or other various video sites. If you do have the urge to watch TV and can’t find the show you want online, you can always go to a friend’s apartment or room and watch there if they are willing to let you.

Nearly every show you will ever want to watch is available online. My favorites are surfthechannel, megavideo or tudou. But yeah, I didn’t have a TV in my dorm room all last year. I liked it better. Just one less thing to distract myself with. Plus this meant in order to watch a sports event on TV I’d have to bother my friends and watch it in their room. Makes me be more social that way, instead of just staying cooped up in my own room.

I sometimes have a TV on while I do something else, but living without a TV shouldn’t be a problem. Whatever show you want you can find on warez boards and trackers.

I didn’t have a TV in my apartment last year (I didn’t have a living room to put it in anyway). This year, my roommates and I decided to get one for our new apartement (it was free actually as one of my roommates’ brother gave us his 36" TV). It will mostly be used to watch hockey games. Going to a bar to watch games is fun once in a while as well, but it becomes pretty expensive rather quickly.

I haven’t watched TV in two years even with a TV in my room.

Same here. I torrent all of my TV shows and then play them on my HTPC, which has an HDTV as its monitor. Unlike Hulu, you can get all the episodes of any show (either TV rips if the episode just aired or DVD/Blu-ray rips if that season’s out on DVD/Blu-ray) and in high definition. Plus there are no ads :D

can you watch live nba games online? ( sorry Spurs fan all those new players arent enough. Lakers will win it in 2010 Pau,Bynum,Odom,Artest, and KB24 )
