Looking for a good gluten free dessert

I need an easy but tasty gluten free dessert for a family function. The eaters are not gluten allergic but sensitive. I have found several recipes online but I would like to know they are tasty as some gluten free stuff is awful. Thanks!

I make these often, so good!

Funny that I’m reading this as I just pulled my King Arthur gf brownies out of the oven. Everyone loves them so much that I’m no longer allowed to bring any other dessert. It’s the first thing requested when we do work functions (I have one tomorrow). Everyone swears they like them better than regular brownies. I make them from the GF brownie mix. Since I’m dairy free, too, I just use oil for the butter.

Bobs Red Mill also makes a fabulous gluten free brownie mix. I mean really fabulous!

The best is if you use the recipe on Quaker Oats for oatmeal raisin cookies and substitute one to one GF flour and sub chocolate chips and m&ms for the raisins.

If you want to be really fancy, make a chocolate cheesecake in a GF Oreo or Joe Joe crust. Just use a recipe for an Oreo crust and use GF ones instead.

I recently heard a French baker say that if you need to do gluten free you should choose a dessert that is usually gluten free (like a mouse, flourless cake, etc.) instead of trying to make something that would normally have gluten with gluten free flour etc.

Oreo truffles.
One block of softened Philadelphia cream cheese. One package of GF Oreos. Crush Oreos and mix with cream cheese (a mixer does this really quickly). Chill mixture. Roll into balls and dip in melted chocolate.

Another fan of King Arthur brownies!
Soooo good.

What about a Pavlova? It looks spectacular, but is easy to make

Basically it’s a giant meringue topped with whipped cream and/or fruit

My kid has celiac- which is an autoimmune disorder, not an allergy. Microscopic contamination leaves her ill for weeks. She is very careful but right now is suffering one of her once a year bouts from what most likely resulted from a friend assuring her food was gluten free, not understanding celiac versus sensitivity.

If the person you are serving is sensitive, and doesn’t have celiac, you don’t have to be as careful. I am also sensitive but not celiac.

We buy gluten free sprinkle cake and pies at Whole Foods. I used to make gluten free muffins with sweet potato mixed in. Honestly, the certified gluten free desserts at stores like Whole Foods serve us well. At Thanksgiving we find small gluten free pies (two servings) at our local natural food store, and bring them to the dinner.

My crockpot died, and I ordered another one (smaller, 2.5qt) to be ready for Thanksgiving. I always do a crockpot Indian Pudding, with corn meal and molasses. DIL is GF, so it will be one of her dessert options. And breakfast option the next day, one of my holiday treats.

I just came on here to say this as well. I’m partial to the La Bete Noire from Epicurious.

This is one of the recipes I use pretty often. Easy to make and delicious.

If you are sure the person does not have celiac, these recipes are great. If the person has celiac, you have to buy new pans and bowls. That is one reason we buy rather than cook.

I forgot there is a dedicated gluten free bakery near us as well…dairy and nut free options as well.

We have 2 here with celiac, this is our go to for holidays. This is the recipe I use, very easy. Flourless Chocolate Cake {Easy} - Two Peas & Their Pod
