MAJOR MISTAKE need adviceeeeee!!!

so this is my situation, i made the most stupid mistake of my life EVER.
including the spring 2012 units, im supposed to have 60 units total, HOWEVER
until now i did not realize one class which was english60 that i took last spring of 2011, was non degree credit class. this class was 4units so this stupid mistake makes my 60 units to
be 56 really that are uc transferable. iam going to appeal however but
has this happened to anyone of you guys before or any advice or anything on this???
and also DO UCI UCLA UCB OR UCSD allow transfer students to take the summer to
fisnish the units or classes. if i take the summer, i will meet the uc requirement

Are you saying that “english60” is not UC-transferable? Because if so, wouldn’t the UCs know too? Did they rescind you or what’s going on. You need to provide more information.

ENG60F which was a prep for college writing. i believe this class was a non degree credit so pretty much i only had 56 uc transferable units because this was 4 units class but not uc transferable. and do you know if they notify you if they have rescinded your application?

They will notify you if they rescind your application. Do you go to a CC, or a 4 year. Which UCs have admitted you?

arent they supposed to do that by now? i just got letters saying they are unable to admit me
i go to cc

What is the basis of your appeal? It appears that you made a mistake calculating your transferable units. To be frank, that hardly seems to be an extenuating circumstance that affected your application and certainly does not paint you as a stronger applicant–you made a small huge mistake. :confused:

From what I understand the UCs are rather strict when it comes to the 60-unit requirement. You should contact the schools where you were accepted as soon as possible and ask them what to do, or rather if they will allow you to finish your last few units over the summer. Having people on this forum ummm and uhhh over your predicament won’t be of much help.

Wait what? What do you mean by “they are unable to admit me”?. Do you mean that on the admissions portal it said something like “We regret to inform you we were unable to offer you admission…” or something? Has the message on any of the admissions portal changed since you first checked your decision? And which UCs did you apply to?

good luck with appeal!!!

the messages have not changed ever since i checked. i applied to ucla ucb uci and ucsd
ucb did specifically told me i could take the summer to finish the pre-req
however, my question is for the summer, you have to meet the unit requirement first huh

@got2have

I’m trying to help you man, but you have to answer my questions. What exactly does it say on your admissions portal. From what I’m getting it sounds like you were rejected (you were never admitted in the first place). Please tell me exactly what the admissions portals say.

also, i am confused because from what i have read on this website, if you lack 60 uc transferable units by the end of spring, ucs usually rescind your application. however they did not rescind mine instead they just rejected me. so… does that mean the units was not the problem?? i had 3.8 gpa

^^Well, rescind is a rejection…

Ok, well know you’ve cleared things up a bit. You didn’t make it clear if you had been accepted and rescinded or you were rejected. Only assist.org certified courses are transferable. Your CC should also let you know what courses are UC-tranferable and what aren’t. To answer your question, no UCs do not allow you use the summer before transfer to use for admission requirements. You’ll just have to apply again next year. And make sure that all other courses you have taken are UC-transferable as well. And make sure that you have IGETC done as well.

whats the difference between reject and rescind? also
have you been admitted?

The difference is that at some point they admitted you. To be “rescinded” means that you were originally accepted, but later on the university withdrew your admission (took it back). To be rejected means that you were never admitted in the first place–in other words at no point in time were ever accepted to the university.

so guys… what is my best option here. im going to appeal to sound that im so sincere
that one stupid mistake omg . also, i know that very few ucs allows transfer students to
take the summer but do you know who they are

@got2have

No UCs allow you to use summer to meet requirements. None. With a 3.8 GPA, you should just complete your requirements an apply again next year. You will be in good shape and should get a lot of acceptances.

There really isn’t anything you can do at this point. Like LaforLife said, just apply for next year

Like what everyone’s been saying, nothing can be done. You’ll have to try again next year.

If it makes you feel any better, you’re not alone in making that big little mistake. I did the same thing last year; my counselor and I counted 62 units, UC counted 59. They don’t rescind your application, they just reject you. In fact, I had no idea until UCSB was nice enough to send me an email saying “Like, dude, you didn’t qualify.” (That’s how it sounded in my head XD).

You can appeal, but it most likely won’t work, and with a GPA like yours it’d be better to just apply again next year. It’s a HUGE deal, I know, going back to CC for four units. So don’t let people belittle it. My advice, however, is to consider the opportunity. For my year “off” I took a few classes that looked interesting and focused on working the first semester, then got a teaching job abroad for the spring. Pursue something you really enjoy, and you’ll have a lot of time to accomplish a lot of the things!

Not to mention it will look wonderful on next year’s ap… I got a year to relax, consider my interests, and got a full sweep this application season. :D

Chin up dude. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
