Has anyone been able to view their FA awards online? When we try to, we’re asked for UID, which we have, but there is no that we know of to get a password to log in.

We’re OOS: The envelope from UMD just arrived this morning, but I won’t know the outcome until D gets home from school and opens it up.

We’re in-state and haven’t received anything!

Is there any sense that the decision to award, or the amount/duration of the award, is dependent upon whether you are IS or OOS? $4500 to an IS is a lot different than a similar amount to an OOS.

$12,000 President’s Scholarship!! So excited, UMD has been calling my S and making him feel very wanted. We are OOS 1490 SAT & 3.85 UW gpa. Can’t wait to visit again. :)

$12,000/year President’s Scholarship. I’ve got a 1500/1600 and 2240/2400 SAT score, a 3.9/4.0 GPA and am from New Jersey.

Pretty excited about that-- thanks, Maryland!

Just got notification today. I’m out of state.

$ 12,000 Presidential. Best I could really hope for since I’m out of state and I haven’t displayed any interest in Maryland…

3.84 weighted GPA (but I go to an extremely competitive high school where this is considered high) and a 1510/2300.

Also received notice of President’s award (12K) in NJ.
1490/2210 SAT, top 1% in class.
Admitted to Smith School and Honors but probably won’t attend.

Also President’s award (12K for 4 years) in NJ.

U MD Honors/LED (returning to where she was born)
TCNJ Honors with max merit (parents top choice)
American U (no merit so far, but we just learned yesterday of her acceptance)…this is her top choice

Decision time is around the corner, but she is still waiting to hear from NYU, Northeastern, Wash & Lee and Rowan

Decisions, decisions…heading to the poor house (as my grandmother would say) no matter which she chooses.

D also received the Presidential Scholarship (12K). D was admitted to Honors and appreciates the scholarship offer, but will probably not attend UMD.

received president’s scholarship $2000/year for 4 years in ny

Presidents $2000/yr for 4 yrs - NJ. Definitely not enough to make the oos cost reasonable.

D-OOS $2K for 4 years. 3.93W, 1380 SAT, lots of EC’s & service. Was hoping for a little more, but happy with something.

OOS D got some $, but really needs more. Is there any evdience that UMD will increase an award already given (like some private schools do), or is it merely a case of a state school’s “take it or leave it.” ??

Why are some President awards 12K and some 2K?

My daughter was invited to Scholars not Honors. I don’t know if that makes a difference between $2K/$12K. Also - the students with the $12K seem to have SAT’s 1500+. Her’s were 1380. Although I have read posts from previous years where kids with high scores/gpa’s got nothing. So I’m guessing your essay & EC’s come into play.

I got a $12k/yr scholarship today from California. (: Huzzah!

Received departmental scholarship yesterday for $2500/yr (in-state), and received a 5K President’s scholarship a couple of days ago. I also will receive 3K for being a MD Distinguished Scholars finalist, and I think I get an additional $500-2K for being a National Merit Finalist, but I have to designate UMD as first choice. MD is looking better and better!

Klms, which school did you got deparmental. Son accepted in Smith School of B. and we are awaiting departmental scholarship. Did you had to apply separately for the Departmental scholarship or it was already considered with app before Nov 1 priority deadline?

beancounter - my son got a 12K Presidential scholarship (OOS) but was not offered honors or scholars - so I’m not sure how they calculate. We inquired about it and they said he was considered but not accepted into any honors/scholars program - they did say this year is the most competitive year to date. He has 2280 on his SAT’s, 5’s on his AP’s and has taken 2 college level courses -lots of EC’s - so his guidance counselor was surprised that he wasn’t offered honors.
