MIT MITES Summer 2014

@emywemy610‌ @engineering2015‌ Yup me too! I’m sooo hoping I get into at least one program! MITES or SAMS

MITES is my number one choice, but if I get into anything I’ll be happy!

@cps2015 @emywemy610 what are your guys’ general stats and what were your essays about (for SAMS)?

Hi everyone!
I’m a MITES '13 alum and it’s so great to see everyone pumped about MITES '14 results!
I know I’m quite late to help anyone, but if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.
Also, just keep calm and carry on with your lives. Don’t let it weigh you down, playing the waiting game.

@PaperFlorist‌ do you mind sharing stats or anything you really enjoyed at MITES

@engineering2015‌ My grades are pretty good and my extracurriculars are pretty good, but my PSAT scores suck! Also, I am in an academically rigorous program and a URM.

@Ginnymills What kind of stats would you like to know?

I don’t want to give you spoilers for what you might experience at MITES, but what I enjoyed the most was the late nights that I spent with everyone working on problem sets and projects. It was a bonding experience. c:

@PaperFlorist In your opinion, how good were your essays? From what I’ve read, the essays are really the deal breakers.

@screamingpumpkin‌ I have to say that my essays really spoke about who I am and all that I have done.
It makes sense that the essays are what makes or breaks it because MITES is really a character building experience. Though the academics that will take place are really top notch, you will grow as a person more. But that is my opinion. c:

@PaperFlorist Your comments make me hope that I get the chance to partially drink from the fire hose even more… :). I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anything more than to have this chance. I’m hoping for the best.

@screamingpumpkin‌ MITES will be the experience that you will make out of it. I’m glad that I’m giving you hope, but even if you don’t get into MITES, don’t let it break you. You will be just as amazing and you will make the best out of anywhere you go!

I’m number 1 at my school, but my school doesnt rank??? I put my school doesnt rank, but idk if my counselor wrote I was #1. The only way I found out was my counselor told me ;P

@PaperFlorist During MITES, did you go out and explore Cambridge? Did you have the time to?

@engineering2015 My GPA unweighted is 3.9, my GPA weighted is 4.9, ACT is 32, URM, and my essays were alright, I’m not much of a writer.

@emywemy610 my gpa is pretty much the same thing! I have a 3.93 UW and 4.93 W. My ACT is only 30 but my highest score was math (33) so hopefully that helps. Btw did you send your ACT score directly to the admissions office? Idk if this is ok but I got an official copy sent to my house then I sent that (still in the envelope) to them.

@engineering2015 Math was my lowest score (30) because I didn’t review, so hopefully that won’t hurt my chances. No, I downloaded the pdf of the score report and uploaded it to the application. I don’t see why that wouldn’t be okay as long as it got there before the deadline and you communicated with them that you would be mailing it in.

Guys! It’s almost April 10… Im nervous…

I wish everyone the best of luck!

Once we get decisions, or maybe even before, we should all create a facebook group !

just to clarify, OEOP is sending out emails, letters, or both?
