@jlwashin
Thank you for your replies and helping us feel better about the application :). I personally was really worried about that message on my account.

I agree with @Fredsterboard!
Also, @jlwashin I really like how you’re professional in the actual MITES team emails, but on CC, you type as if you were really just talking with us. Personally, I think that makes this whole process a lot less intimidating because it shows that our decision council is actually human and easy to relate to!

Ahh it makes me want to meet mites people even more. :)

@Southpaw45
I wish you lots of luck on saturday!! (which is tomorrow) and that’s hilarious, maybe we are twins on some parallel universe! ^^ but on a serious note, I <3 Science Olympiad people. ^^
And nothing on my email or login. and guys, last week I accidentally edited one of my activites on the MITES app, but I didnt change anything, its exactly the same as when I submitted it. Will they see that I edited something even though I didnt change anything? It that going to hurt me?

And it is a good thing that we didnt get anything in our email yet? It makes me paranoid, like it makes me wonder if I typed my email wrong… haha >_<

@jlwashin
Hi there, I just wanted to ask you a question. The other day, I logged into my account and accidentally changed something, but I changed it back to how it originally was when I submitted it in February. Will MITES see that I logged into my account and see I edited something? Will it get my chances? Will they think I’m trying to be sly or sneaky?!?! Its Right now my application is EXACTLY how it was when I submitted it earlier this year. It’s just been eating away at me slowly so I wanted to ask. Thanks a bunch, and thanks for logging on to CC to tell us all this info :)

And guys, I havent logged onto CC for a while, and when I did, I had 250 notifications, you guys should’ve seen my face! With all those notifications, I thought the MITES results were in! You guys gave me quite a scare! ^_^

@jlwashin
I want to personally thank you for making this intense waiting period so much easier for all of us. You’re an incredibly wonderful human being, Jazzmyne! We all sincerely appreciate it.

@jlwashin Students of URMs, lower incomes, and etc. are given priority to the program, of course, aren’t they? I heard that typically only one or two higher-income non-URMs are accepted to MITES every year. Also, is there a waiting list for MITES and E2?
Also, thanks for taking the time to talk with us and thank you for all the hard work you all put into MITES. I love how MIT always has such friendly representatives and admissions officers, and the MITES staff has been no different :)

@SineSquareSaw I’m really sorry to hear that. At the very least, there is hope that you may not have been rejected after all. I hope you aren’t too seriously upset, as depression is a pretty serious deal. Just remember that it’s absolutely not the end of the world if you can’t find a camp to do over the summer. No matter how MITES turns out, you have a whole life and oppourtunities ahead of you, and your acceptance/rejections from summer programs shouldn’t mess with your personal confidence and self-worth. We’re all waiting anxiously, and I’m sure you’re not the only person who feels the way you do :)

@Apdenoatis

I was definitely freaking out at the time, but my word choice there was certainly hyperbole

I appreciate the concern :)

So I just realized the glitch might be the remnants from last year… After all, didnt decisions come out April 9?

I didn’t get the email they sent out ( I checked spam, etc.). Is anyone else in a similar position?
Apparently the email is:

*Thank you for your email. Unfortunately that was a glitch in our system that has now been resolved. All applicants will be notified within the next 1-2 weeks of their status, with instructions provided at their email address.

Best,
MITES Application Team*

@luckystar888 No worries! After closing the application, most of the work is done out of the system, and it definitely won’t affect your application.

@Apdenoatis I’ll refer you to the link below as well for additional context, but I will say I have worked with multiple MITES, E2@MIT, and MOSTEC programs and there is no such thing as a “typical” class. Each one has a different makeup; it really depends on the applicant pool, which changes year to year. Also there’s not a waiting list for any of our programs.

MITES – MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering and Science;

@starchow The email sent to Emily was because she had emailed the MITES team asking about the issue, it wasn’t a mass email sent to all applicants

I’m glad I’ve been somewhat helpful to you guys though! :D

@jlwashin Thank you for your prompt response

@jlwashin Thanks for shedding some light on the matter - I suppose that even I can breathe a little easier lol.

@amaranthineD , when do you generally find out if you were selected? The site says early-april, but what week is that around?

Does the MITES staff take the time to point out why exactly was one rejected?

@jlwashin
Thank you so much! That makes me relieved! And 1-2 weeks seems like forever now >_<

So to help while away the next couple of weeks, where you guys all from? How’d you get into engineering? Anything else you’re hoping to do over the summer?

And does anyone here play Puzzle and Dragons? XD

I currently live in Maryland, but I’m from inner-city D.C. I’ve been interested in science and tech since elementary school, but I didn’t get into engineering until a few years ago, when I was introduced to FRC (http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc if you’re unfamiliar with FIRST). My team actually reached the finals at the D.C. regional competition this year, but lost in game three of three by two or so shots (the scoring system is kinda complicated). If I don’t get into MITES knocks on wood or another program, I’ll probably be working at my job or volunteering or gaming/going to the pool/doing other stereotypical American kid things.

And sadly I don’t play Puzzle and Dragons, but I’ve reached the 4096 tile on 2048, which I’m pretty proud of.

I’m from Indiana! (; but more like Northwestern Indiana, so I’m not really Hoosier material, and I didn’t get into engineering really until this year. My AP Chem teacher is an MIT fanatic, and he actually went to Rose Hulman. (I encourage you to look it up) and it inspired me to look into engineering, I originally thought I was going to be a doctor or something my whole life XD

And I LOVE Puzzles and Dragons! But sadly I had to delete it off my phone DX )’:
Anyone on here like to play Legend of Zelda?

I live in New Jersey. I didn’t consider engineering and computer science as possible careers until last year, largely thanks to my amazing physics teacher. If I don’t get into MITES I’m fairly likely to go to the AP/EA program at Carnegie Mellon, but I’m still weighing my options.

@ahawkins LOL that’s quite an accomplishment! I always die at 256 >_> we have a kid in our school who got to like 16384. I actually did FIRST in middle school, but the middle school division uses LEGO Mindstorms. I never really did the robot-building part, I was more of a research person back then.

@luckystar888 Yeah, I’ve heard of Rose-Hulman. My parents would go nuts (in a bad way) if I went there, though, because they’re pretty into rankings and such, so I’m applying to other schools instead.
P&D is so fun ahaha, though I’m pretty bad at it. And darn - I could always use another addition to my friend list
I don’t play Zelda, but I do play Super Smash Bros. Not that I’m implying that that counts or anything lol.

@luckystar888 I have no idea what’s puzzles and dragons but I DO play quite a lot LoZ !!
I have the A Link between Worlds special edition 3ds (nerd mode); BEAUTIFUL!

And i’m currently playing Skyward
