MIT MITES Summer 2014

Oh that’s great! I wonder how many people applied/got accepted. I just feel bad for not even getting any of the lower prizes lol. Only MITES left, if i don’t get that then I’ll be going to MAO Nationals (and preparing assidously) and developing a web app all summer long. I kind of just want to know about MITES so I can plan out my summer and start looking for some volunteer opportunities as well.

Lol Fred. I didn’t knoe about it until the day before hence the last minute app. It kind of sucked, they made you insert EVERY single one of your classes by hand instead of through your transcript -_-. If your parents made more than 50-60k then it probably wasn’t even worth applying so don’t feel too bad.

@Ginnymills I ended up with the same (except the college conference I have been selected for is at Princeton) but did not select that I was interested in the summer prep programs because they interfered with my job:(

Rejected… 46k income and 15k in stocks. Is that too high?

15k dividend in stocks oris that the value of the stocks? If the former, then too high, if the latter, then it’s just the volume of the competition. That’s why I’m curious about app/admit rates.

I got selected to go to the Stanford conference! Hopefully some of you guys will be there so we could possibly meet up :).

Pretty sure value of stocks. Did they ask for dividend on the application? I don’t remember…

My application probably just sucked. Time to wait for MITES… not expecting much…

I got northwestern and college visits. How do you know if you got summer college?

I also got selected to the Stanford Conference! :D

Lol was I mistaken to apply with over 100k family income

Now I’m jealous of all these conferences -_-, but congrats guys. Good to know at least some of us are getting something over the summer. @NanoEngineer‌, one of the other users said they won’t hand out summer program decisions until mid-may. @mubaracus‌, probably not the best idea lol, I my parents are past the 50k line (they said most of their admitees were under that mark, though anything under 70 still had a shot) too but I got denied too :P.

@Existentialized‌, if that was their value then no, I don’t think that would make you [informally of course] “ineligible”. Attribute it to competition and if you did it last minute like me (didn’t know about it until the day before) then… yeah… lol.

Go look at your update again and at the end it says they will be sending out decisions for programs until mid May. If you don’t hear anything then you weren’t chosen. Be careful though some decisions tell you that you are not being considered.

Who didn’t apply to Questbridge?? I didn’t. And what are the prizes?? Because I have a senior friend, who’s a questbridge scholar, and got a scholarship to UPenn, but you guys are talking about summer programs? Does that mean there is another Questbridge application for seniors next year?

And kinda relieved MITES results didn’t come out, because my ACT’s are tomorrow. It would have ruined my mojo if I knew I got rejected today.

@luckstar888 the prizes consisted of either (or multiple) college conference invitations, summer program at several different top colleges, college visits, Kaplan, and counseling. The College Prep Scholarship application that many of us have applied for is exclusively for juniors I believe and we will be eligible for the National College Match program (which is what I believe your UPenn friend recieved) in the fall.

I didn’t apply to Questbridge, I don’t even know what it is.

I got QuestBridge! The MITES decision is this week too right?

@eudotong yep, should be out by or on this Friday.

Northwestern! I only selected Stanford as my ‘possible choice’ though, because Northwestern conflicts with Girls State and Princeton with something else… Ah well, still honored to be selected as a CPScholar!

@Apdenoatis Alright thanks. I’m dying to see the decision.
