Here is a great tool for finding more accurate scores for your BB tests. You know how the last 7 BB tests generally might give you a score such as 670-770 (I’ve gotten that before and it is really annoying because the range is so wide)

While looking at that collegepanda scoring website I noticed his advanced grammar and essay book. From the outset it looks pretty good, but there are only two amazon reviews. Does anybody know about/have experience with this book?

@satsarecool I bought erica meltzer’s “the ultimate guide to sat grammar” and “the critical reader”. Those two books are the most liked here at cc and they’re worth it in my opinion.

Also for the essay do any of you guys have templates that you use? How do you format it?Where do you put counter-arguments if you use them? I feel lost by the essay and don’t know how to improve. I’m around the 9-10 range and would really like a 11 or 12 on my essay.

I have made tons of progress on critical reading. i am averaging about 2 to 3 on the passage reading question of old PSAT’s. i was just wondering how that might transfer to the passages on the actual SAT.

I have been going through direct hits for vocab and plan on finishing both version before the test day. the vocab has really helped me on the tone based question because previously i new what the answer was, but did not understand the answer choices.

For the math section i was planning on going through barons 2400 but people on cc said it is not good for math because its to hard and covers material that is not true.

@cimmerianmonk Whats your CR score before and after buying the “Critical Reader” book?
If i dont do well on my 1st sat and get 700, then i might get that book.

@slasheer102
My CR score on the Jan SAT was a 610. I bought critical reader a month ago which is when I started my CR prep and now I’m getting 670-710. That’s a pretty large improvement imo in only a few weeks. I was always bad at CR even on stuff like the state standardized tests we take so I feel as if I’ll max out at around 720-740.

That book is great if you got a 700. The book is meant for everyone, but it is best for people with high scores so that they can correct the last few mistakes they make.

can someone tell me why these sentences are wrong ?
The problem of water pollution is frequently compounded in certain areas where the treatment and release of industrial wastes are not adequately regulated.

2) In a world that the rate of technological and social change accelerates frighteningly, chang itsself often semms to be the only constant.

How much prep are you guys doing per day or per week? And how do you improve on making silly mistakes if you keep making them when you practice?

^The only way to not make stupid mistakes is to, well, not make them. Making stupid mistakes isn’t an exclusive SAT thing, so you have to practice reading carefully, taking your time, keeping focused, and to not be arrogant enough to overlook things. It’s an essential test-taking procedure, so really just be bent on thinking and reading things through.

today was a bad day of practice. I finally felt like i was getting things right in CR but it all went wrong. I made many mistakes and fell like i was to hasty and overlooked the small things i would usually catch. I am going to thoroughly correct all of my mistakes tomorrow.

Didn’t have much time to study yesterday but I did a CR section. It was extremely easy (-1) but that means that the other 2 sections will be extremely hard. That one mistake was level 5 but it was easy using POE. My answer was never supported through the text and I jumped to an answer choice quickly…

I’m going to do the rest tonight and practice my essay for tomorrow’s full length practice test.

@MyRealName
Yeah, I understand that. But I am saying that I practice almost every day and I keep on making silly mistakes (which are the only reason I get questions wrong besides vocab).

Just a quick question for anyone who is using/used chung’s. I’m usually only getting one wrong/skipped per section at most. Am I in good shape to do extremely well on the real sat math sections? Thanks.
Also, has anybody used the Princeton reviews’s 11 practice test book? Are the questions similar to the blue book’s? I’ve run out of blue book tests so I’m looking for an alternative

Maths questions in PR 11 practice tests are easier than barrons .

fact

^^ this is much calculated statement , i myself tried many practice tests and i scored much high on PR tests as compared to barrons . So if u r thinking of a hard core maths prep , use barrons instead of PR
… sorry i know only about maths , havent compared reading and writing sections of the books ;)

Ugh, I feel like I’m one of these few people that have trouble in Math more so than English. I’m taking a math only SAT prep course next month so hopefully that helps.

Any advice for the math section? videos you reccomend me to watch? skills to learn? Thanks so much guys!!
