Nola Orientation Experience

Too funny Bloomy! My son’s grad party was “Mardi Gras” themed. My sister even had beads made with his picture on them… He too is SO ready for NOLA!

Son is participating - Art & Soul!

If interested, registration is open and the fee is charged to the student’s Tulane account.

Riverboat Dinner Cruise (advance registration and fee required)
Friday, August 30
Celebrate the end of the week by sailing down the Mississippi on an authentic New Orleans riverboat. There will be plenty of music, New Orleans food and fun during this unique Tulane tradition! Don’t miss this great chance to catch up with the friends you’ve made during the first week of classes. The $60 fee includes transportation to and from the boat dock, a buffet dinner and cruise. Register online at riptide.me/Sg

Hi everyone. I was in China for a couple of weeks and feel completely out of the loop! First, I want to congratulate you all for the NOLA acceptances. I’m jealous, as much as I tried, my DD didn’t want to apply. Oh well, what can you do? Next, I just want to say I am in for Friday night and very excited about it. Thanks for solidifying a plan. See you all soon!

Don’t feel like the lone ranger Oliver17, mine wouldn’t apply either. Guess we are stuck with them for another week!

Re: Riverboat Cruise - S1 was unsure whether he would go when he was a freshman two years ago, but I signed him up anyway. When the evening came, “EVERYBODY” went, so he was glad I did.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Independence Day. Enjoy the food and have fun.

I signed my son up for the cruise too… didn’t even ask him. ;)

I was surprised that my D was on top of things enough to even know to sign up for the cruise, but she signed up too.

My S is checking on facebook about the cruise - he will not take my word for it…I will have to tell him that plenty have already signed up!

It is always well attended. They should all go, IMO.

My daughter signed up as well for the cruise…

Hell, I’d like to sign up for the cruise. ;)

I showed S this chain - calmomofthree said her D signed up - that is what put my S over the top - he finally signed up!

The mother of a friend of my son told him she went on the cruise 25 years ago (she’s a Tulane alumnus) and it great fun. I guess it’s a long tradition.

Pretty long. It was suspended for a year or two after Katrina IIRC, because the boats were out of commission. They are fun.

Just interrupting to say MY DAUGHTER WILL BE HOME IN 12 HOURS!! She has been gone for 10 months and 10 days and I can’t wait to see her!!!

Back to our regularly scheduled posts…

That is exciting. My D was gone for a similar amount of time when she was in China, maybe a few weeks more. But that isn’t quite the same thing since she had already been at Tulane for a couple of years, so we were used to not seeing her for a few months at a time. Still, not having her home for holidays and such was hard.

In case anyone missed the email reminder: the following Webinar will take place Tuesday, July 23, 2013 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDT.

Thanks. I definitely wish I could come. But I know you will all have a great time.

Has anyone tried to log their boxes yet for shipping? I shipped s’ boxes on Friday since we left for vacation and the letter said to have early boxes there no later than 8/13. Then I tried to log the tracking numbers and the move-in site is closed.
