This is so cool. Thank you!!
No problem!
ok, I did some more looking into it and when snapshots of a site were taken is mostly random so its unlikely that the January 26th date is anything more than a coincidence.
When the Wayback Machine site first came online they showed Mr. Peabody (a dog) and his pet boy Sherman. Those of us of a certain age got the reference.
Two popular sites that were not offered since 2019 are Sydney and Melbourne Australia. They were not offered in 2022 because when plans were being finalized it was not clear if Australia would still be locked down. They had strict COVID rules. Hopefully they will be offered this year.
Does she like the NUIN program?? Does she have any regrets?
Anyone deferred from EA who chose RD ⊠did you notice NU is now asking whether you are SURE you want to submit those test scores? My Dâs were high, so I assume this is on everyoneâs portal? What do you think? An effort to keep its admitted studentsâ âmiddle 50%â high?
I am confused. What do you mean?
New thing recently appeared on Dâs portal, after she was deferred in EA and elected to be considered in RD:
Regular Decision Testing Preference
Applicants to Northeastern can change their preference on whether or not they would like their test scores to be considered. If you would like to change you preference, please do so below.
Please indicate whether or not you would like the admission committee to consider your standardized test scores.
Do others see this on portal? I have to imagine it was sent to all, since her SAT score is high.
Seems they want high scores or no scores.
We have 1540 but didnât see this.
Really ⊠interesting. Perhaps 1540 is the cut off.
She loved NUin! No regrets. She liked getting her gen ed classes done in Dublin so she could come back to Boston and just focus on classes in her major. NU has had the Dublin program for over a decade so it is very well organized and the students have a lot of NU employees there supporting them. She and her friends traveled to Rome and Madrid by themselves when they were over there which was a big âadultingâ accomplishment for her. We are suburbs people so she was proud of herself for learning how to navigate public transportation in Europe, and she made friends in her cohort who she still socializes with in Boston. Overall she loves how NUin and co-ops shake things up at NU and says she canât imagine going to college for 8 straight semesters where the only thing that changes in 4 years are the classes you take.
If you join the Northeastern Parents Facebook page you will find a lot of pro-NUin stories over there. Itâs worth checking out if you are undecided.
I think my son got the same message. That he COULD submit his scores (or new scores if he took again?) so heâs debating if he should. With a 1440 he was told on the tour to not submit so he did not submit for EA. Thinking thatâs still correct. Would like thoughts on this bc we have no clue!
My D said a bunch of deferred kids at her HS got it too, even with a range of scores.
At most schools, it doesnât work this way. Kids do the hard work, families pay the fee, hit âsubmitâ and then let the colleges do the hard work.
That is great to hear!! My son was accepted into the Global Scholars program (computer science major) which means during his first year he would do a semester in CA and one in London. We live 45 minutes from Boston and he wanted to stay in Boston so we were initially put off. However we are starting to think it might be a great opportunity for him to spend time on the west coast and London without committing to four years. And once he is in Boston for years 2,3,4 he can take advantage of the wonderful coop program. A lot to think about but I kind of think he would be giving up an amazing opportunity if he didnât take it.
I stand corrected. Just logged in from desktop and yes, the option is there.
I think it is an exciting opportunity. These kids learn so much about being resilient and adapting to change when they go through this program. Plus these are the years to explore what itâs like to live in different places and with people who have different backgrounds than they do. The ease with which they can travel in Europe is also very compelling. Once they graduate and get into the job market it wonât be so easy to do.
Agreed!
I actually doubt transfer will be easy. Itâs not guaranteed. Northeastern has NUin (1 semester) and global scholars (1 year). Those are the groups that will got back to Boston. Northeastern has limited space and is over crowded. They want to make money from Oakland and London campuses. Theyâre not going to let people from other admit programs overcrowd the Boston campus. They want to build London and Oakland. Not create transfer campuses
DD got the same exact program. It does look nice but we didnât receive any merit. Now comes the hard part of figuring out if sticker price is worth it. Also we donât have details on if major can be decided after coming to Boston.
