The son of Tom Hanks, Chet Hanks (current NU student) makes a remix to Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow.” He calls his version “White and Purple” LOL

So, is it just me or has Northwestern’s prestige been growing steadily the past ten years or so? I was young of course then, but I never remember Northwestern being in the top 12 or compared with some of the Ivies as it is today. (I am from Chicago suburbs, maybe that makes a difference? Did people in other regions see Northwestern as great as it is today?)

@monacle Yeah, I lived in Evanston from when I was 7 to 10 years old, and I don’t remember it being so “big”. I had a nanny that went to Northwestern, and she was a nice girl and pretty smart, but I can’t imagine she would be accepted today…

Basically Northwestern offers superior opportunities for research in my field as well as a more involved and intellectually motivated student body.

Northwestern has one of the best econ programs in the country and is recruited for investment banking (my aspiring career field). Not to mention it’s a 15 minute drive from my house and I absolutely love the location!

Definitely a combination of McCubs and Bears’ posts, closer to home (West Suburbs), and Northwestern has so much more than my current school does. (We only have one [expletive] econ professor! and he’s leaving next year!) Not to mention, the second city is a great place.

I used to live in Evanston, actually. I was pretty young, but I was really close to a beach… that’s all I remember.
I love the area around Northwestern. It’s so pretty!

I want to go to Northwestern because it has a fantastic escience program. Lots of flexibility. Lots of classes and more individual attention. Mix in big ten athletics and drum line and it makes a perfect university for me. If I’m not accepted I’ll go to UIUC. While I am excited to go to UIUC, NW would easily trump UIUC in terms of academics.

There are a couple concepts behind rolling admissions. In most cases, rolling admission is based on when you apply–but not at Northwestern as they say that it occurs after the deadline. In their case, it’s more that right now, the more qualified and unqualified candidates will be informed in the first round of acceptances and rejections. Based upon the number enrolling, about one or two weeks later, the next round of candidates will be contacted with regard to how many slots are left. This trend will continue throughout the summer.

Hey guys, just got an account. They told me that my application is complete and under review. Waiting for the results! Of course, since UChicago rejected my app, however, my chances don’t look that great. Still, Macalester accepted my transfer app, so, my fingers are crossed…
