Northwestern HPME Part 1

Socketlube---somewhere on their website...I cant fidn the link at the moment..It says it's discouraged..esp if applying to the program. They want you to be a human that enjoys life, you know?

NW will still consider your app...and you may get in...it's just not rec'd

I have a question. For the HPME secondary school report, my counselor said that my school has its own report, so she's not going to fill out the one NW sent me. She's just going to fill out the one that our school has. Is that okay?

lol, in one of the older posts that had the term "designer jeans" in it, it's a homonym of Designer Genes, an event in Science Olympiad...hehe

just a random note...

cello--check the form. it ususally states something about attaching your own thing or not

I found it surprising that I didn't get an application... I requested for one about a two days ago, and very promptly, I receieved an email denying me an application. Here are my stats:

3.86 GPA (unweighted, max is 4.0)
2340 SAT I
800 math
770 chem
760 bio
2 English APs
2 math APs
1 bio AP
1 chem AP
1 physics honors

My friend's SAT I is 200 points lower, SAT IIs are also lower, has one less AP class than I have, but has a 3.95 GPA. Is GPA weighted that much?

do you think it had to do with rank? ec's?

that's quite interesting, bcuz the app's are usu given on the basis of stats

Did you have any foreign language classes? I think they're a prerequisite to getting the application.

wow I'm not gonna lie that is pretty scary. With your elite level stats, simply receiving an application would not even be debatable. There must be some part of the picture we are missing, or maybe as february_rain was saying it may have been a possible foreign language requirement. As far as your numbers, they are well beyond what it takes to receive an application. You did send in an actual request card right?

oh my god! thats scary...i might not even stand a chance

OMG now I'm scared because the first time i took my SAT's i was really sick and don't want that to stop me from getting the application

Do you think I could possible get the application
here are my stats

GPA 4.3 weighted
Class rank top 1%
SAt's CR+M =1140, W=600
SATII's Chem=700, Bio=730, and MAth IIc the results are coming out

took 4 years of math, English 2 years of chem, one year of both bio and physics and 2 years of foreign language, for all classes except the foreign language i have reached up to AP level

so what do u think are my chances of gettign the card

Well what's your unweighted GPA

our school doesn't give out unweighted GPA's

they must if you have weighted...ask your counselor

i'm pretty sure that they don't but lets just say i think i would come out to 3.94 as unweighted so then do i still have a shot at getting the application

Honestly, I would say your SAT score is kind of low.

Well.....I guess hope it comes. I mean I think you realized your SAT score was lower....but I mean, it's done. You just have to wait it out. Nothing anyone says on this board si the word of admissions...so I guess we'll see.

ok i agree my SAT score is a bit low for the application but is it low for the request card as well now many kids get the request card and how many apply?????????

lets be realistic here, a 1140 is not going to get you very far in the process. Look at some other programs.
