Notre Dame Waitlist 2020

Apparently they want more info from me because they need to clear up some things, so I had to fax over some paperwork. Looks like I’ll be waiting a few days before I hear back haha.

My guidance counselor offered to called my rep today to give some compliments about me - I hope that helped.

One thing she learned is that all the waitlist decisions will be wrapped up by May 31. Other than that, I think that she didn’t learn any new info. Still hoping for the best - I’ll be checking back in here to congratulate all of you guys that make it!

Also, has anyone heard anything about the Gateway Program? Any offers for that? I’ve been trying to get a Gateway offer, as well as getting off the waitlist, but I have no idea if any kids (or how many) have gotten it.

I had asked my son’s rep about it, and he said it was all set, but then I see the ND website says a few more offers will go out after waitlist is settled. Sounds like it is only offered to those on waitlist, but someone in the know said it can go to anyone who applied, so who knows…It would be perfect for my son! (and other accomplished Arrowmen!) Sure am praying for you, Neely!!

@RangerJerry Thanks - I greatly appreciate your prayers. It means a lot to me right now.

If you don’t mind, which part of the website says that they will take Gateway students after the waitlist is through? I’ve only been able to find a tiny bit of Gateway information in the ND website.

@NoSkillWill I’m from northern NJ and I heard on Tuesday

here ya go, wneely16 http://admissions.nd.edu/gateway-program/overview/

@RangerJerry Thanks!

I know people who heard around May 12th two years ago, so they’ll probably do another round of calls around May 10th or 11th. Congrats to everyone who got in!

Gateway is a program, offered to students interested in Arts and Letters majors, where they take classes at Holy Cross College for the first year, and with a certain GPA they are automatically granted admission to ND for the remaining 4 years. If you put down an interest in the sciences, engineering or business, then I believe you are not a candidate for the Gateway program.

Sorry - remaining 3 years!

do you know if it is strictly for waitlisted kids? My S was arts and letters, but was not waitlisted. Someone told me that they can give them to anyone

@ndtxmom82 I sent an E-mail to the Gateway director back in March indicating that I would be fine with changing my preference to Arts and Letters Pre-Health if I was selected - I hope that they take that into account when they look at my file.

Congratulations. I recall seeing you on the other posts and know how much you wanted this. You will be joining my daughter in the class of 2020.

Financial aid info got emailed out. Outside of all the loans and the campus employment, the remaining bill is about 2k more than our families EFC, which is pretty damn good and is about equal to what we’d pay everywhere else. Huge package.

@ProbDeferred Awesome! Glad to hear that everything worked out for you. I really hope that if I get taken from the waitlist, my financial aid looks like it does in the net price calculator. To be honest, that’s one of my biggest concerns.

@wneely16

Absolutely, it was for me as well. Actually, it’s far closer to my EFC than I originally had anticipated. What’s actually left over is near dollar for dollar exactly what my EFC is, just BARELY lower. Like less than a hundred off. That’s a win.

Hopefully the other guys that got accepted have the same results I did.

Congrats @ProbDeferred ! Just as a side note, they do say on their website that students taken off the waitlist get the same financial aid considerations as those accepted during EA/RD. So for those that are waiting–you will receive the same package that you would have received during the other rounds!

@wneely16 - I hope they consider you for that. You sound like an amazing student, and I hope for the best for you!

@ndtxmom82 I really appreciate the support that you - and so many other parents and applicants on this thread - have been giving me. This is the most friendly and supportive thread I have ever witnessed on College Confidential. You guys are all awesome.

With that being said, it looks like today or tomorrow are going to be big days - the kids who said No on May 3, and are still saying No, have created openings, and in the last week, all of the ND enrolled students who have gotten off waitlists at their desired schools have relinquished their spots. I’m very optimistic that a lot of phone calls are going to go out this week - we’ll see how it goes!
