NYU 2017 Spring Transfer

And idk if I’m wrong but I thought we could move in earlier since orientation is mandatory. I’m going to call and ask when the university opens after break bc I was not planning on making other arrangements

@nyu7896 do you know where we can choose the housing? do you mean the building preference which the housing application makes you rank?
Thank you so much for your answers. I know it’s weird. The email that I got said we’ll have it on the 22nd?

To any Econ majors, have you contacted the department yet? I’m the letter for transfer students for Econ it says you have to fill out a form for all the Econ courses you’ve taken but I can’t find it. Has anyone found it? Thanks

Is anyone using Sallie Mae or are you guys using another kind of loan program? Should I be applying to Sallie Mae?

No worries. To choose housing log onto the housing portal and fill out the housing application. On the application you rank your preferences or which dorm you want and also choose whether you’re interested in a single or double. When I talked to them they said triples also might be available but that’s only if you select low cost housing. They have descriptions of all the dorms and it seems like the dorm Alumni only has singles. I think the rest are apartment style doubles

Have you all been contacted by your advisors

Yea I’m going to call them when offices reopen to see if I can move in earlier. And in the application you rank your preferences but single rooms are very limited. I’m using Sallie Mae to cover the remaining cost of my fees, I applied over the phone but you can do it online too.

I contacted my advisor myself and they replied immediately. Do you guys know if classes that are “closed” will be reopening anytime soon? Like is there a time where students will drop/swap their courses?

The first week of classes things normally open up but I wouldn’t bet on it. Just make a backup schedule and maybe some classes will open up You just have to check back frequently

If you are on the waitlist, do you ask your professors the first day of class for an add code? That’s how the waitlisting system works at my community college from which I’m transferring to PCC from, but I’m not sure how it works at NYU. Do professors add you themselves so that you don’t have to do anything?

@nyu7896 what letter said to fill out the econ courses you took? i can’t locate it

My advisor emailed it to me but if you google “letter to Econ transfer students NYU” a detailed letter with instructions will come up. Towards the bottom it mentions a form that you need to fill out but I can’t find the form. Have you introduced yourself to the department yet? I think I’m going to email them tomorrow

Hey guys! do you think NYU CAS Econ is better or Northeastern Finance is better for breaking into the financial services industry. Advice appreciated. Thanks!

I’m just curious. Did anyone manage to transfer to Stern?

Those of you who already made your schedule : how’d it go? Your advisor called you and you did it together over the phone or…

^ditto on that. how does the schedule thing go. still no word from advisor

@DenNuggs4life and @collegeJerome
When your advisor contacts you, which would be after you complete the transfer portal, you would be instructed to add courses into your shopping cart on Albert. (My advisor contacted me through my NYU email, not by phone.) Once you do that, you contact back your advisor to tell him or her that you have added those courses so that he or she can check and validate them. And after they validated your courses, you are free to enroll in them.

Does anyone know where I can see reviews of NYU professors other than RateMyProfessors.com because RateMyProfessors.com are missing a lot of professor reviews? I don’t get why people don’t post on RateMyProfessors for NYU because back at my community college, students were really frequent with that website.

@Popcorn11201 you get to choose the courses you add?

@DenNuggs4life yup but you should add courses that meet your core requirements and major requirements.
