Some people are saying these emails are random but i disagree. NYU waitlists so many people, more people than any other school. They started sending emails to kids who applied to the schools that released their addmission decisions first, which makes me think they are picking the kids carefully not randomly. Also it seems like everyone who got the email so far is a fairly strong student. In addition, if you read the thread from the 2021 waitlist it looks like they do send the emails in batches and not randomly. I doubt they have changed much this year. Obviously the email does NOT mean acceptance. But for everyone who says it means nothing thats definatly not true. If a school emails certain students that they are interested in their canidacy and dont email others, that does mean something. But dont worry, it seems like kids were getting these types of emails all the way into late august. Lots of people will pass on the acceptance, so keep up hope. But also realize it costs $280,000 to go to NYU and youre paying that back for the rest of your life. Its a great location, but you can also move there after college for the rest of your life debt free. This is not your only chance to live in NYC. There are definatly positives to not attending.
@JosephJim i got my email at the same time as some of the others on this forum (2:00 pst) so i think they’re being sent out in batches, and not randomly. also i don’t think there’s any point in checking your phone every single second, they’re probably spacing out the emails by a few days or even weeks.
Just wondering if anyone gets an email from steinhardt or lsp program?
@Biyaoli I’m waitlisted for CAS and tandon too. I haven’t recieved any such interest email. I think they’re just late. Don’t panic. Just give it some time.
@imonthewaitlist No interest email here yet…
@Biyaoli My sources (friends and acquaintances) have been very quiet today…
@JosephJim Emails from colleges are never random. Never. They will be sent out in batches.
Ok so emails from NYU are being sent out in batches, and usually, from last year, it can be assumed that these batches are determined by the major/school you have picked. And seeing that Stern, nursing, and Tisch have sent out their emails, is there any chance of receiving a waitlist form for these schools now?
Time out - What?
Hi everyone,
I am new here (but I’ve been reading to stay posted on what going on). I have gotten the email stating that NYU has some space open, but I have yet to hear from them regarding a continued interest form.
I’m keen on getting into Steinhardt for MCC (my fingers are crossed).
Anyone have any info about the waitlist at NYU Abu Dhabi?
Hi guys I’m new here but I’ve been going through the discussion to stay updated. Did anyone waitlisted for Tandon receive the second email?
@GrusMinion I applied to CAS for neural science. But in the waitlist form I added English, International Relations, Biology and Psychology
i;m waitlisted and i got the email asking for me to confirm my interest in tisch, but when i clicked on the link the form didn’t work. does anyone else have this problem/has gotten the form?
Does anyone know what the email means?

@junglebooks Someone else that got an email a couple days said that the form started working about an hour after she got it. I wouldn’t worry! And an interest email is usually good news but not everyone gets in if they got an interest email
@junglebooks what major did you get waitlisted for at tisch? I got waitlisted for at tisch too and i havent gotten an interest email yet and im so nervous this is my dream school
I didn’t write a crazy essay for my “level of interest” prompt. I put about a paragraph and i was straight forward and direct. Is that bad or do they expect a whole essay?
There were questions earlier trying to assess the impact of the ‘interest’ emails many received this week. Some replied saying these ‘basically mean your accepted,’ or similar. Never heard what that was based on, so I dug through the board discussions from last year’s class. The same interest emails were sent (in batches) and the same debate was had about what the interest email means (along with some, as here, claiming it means you are basically admitted). In the end, and weeks later, there were many who did in fact get admitted after getting the interest email, but there were also folks who were not admitted (even though they received an interest email in the first wave). This was the near-final conclusion as posted by one such participant: “I believe that we were all misinformed about the ‘definite’ nature of our acceptances based upon receiving an interest letter.” Also of note, there were students reporting they had been admitted off the waitlist even though they never received an interest email.
So, while certainly not bad news to have received the “interest email,” it is certainly not a definitive indicator (one way or the other).
when did they hear that they were officially accepted?? @AJSTAN
