NYU Transfer Fall 2019

Any transfer applicants for Tisch or steindhardt in their portal showing standardized test scores missing? I don’t understand why they even appear as missing when we don’t have to submit them…

@jakecap1123 same thing happened to me (steinhardt applicant) so I called them and they said that since I chose other schools as my back up, they needed my test scores as well! So I rush-shipped my scores and they updated within 2 days!

It’s April 1st, the deadline for transfer applications. I just wanted to wish everybody good luck!

@thispersonsthat yeah but I have more than 32 credits (65) going in so I thought I was in the clear with test scores regardless… I’m going to email my rep.

I just submitted my application a few minutes ago! I applied to Gallatin. Good luck everyone!

I submitted my application as well. Good luck to all!

Any cc transfers?

I gave insight on my self-inflicted adversities and gave a brief background on the intergenerational cycle within my family in which I am vowing to break. I emphasized on academics and how education is the only plausible way to overcome my adversities. My understanding of life has been shaped through personal adversities which I have had to overcome, instilling in me this belief that everything happens for a reason. Incarceration for me was divine intervention. If it were not for my last incarceration, I would not have the courage and drive to pursue higher education at the age of 27. Also, I would not have the courage to enact change within the community through means of volunteer work and advocacy. I realized that in order to successfully make an impact in this world, a dialogue needs to come into fruition to bring awareness to the mischaracterization of ex-convicts within societal constructs. My life circumstances put me at an advantage. Due to my self-inflicted plight, I have to work harder than my peers in every facet of life. I had to excel academically during my journey in a community college to encompass a semblance of hope. I plan to exceed all societal expectations of ex-convicts and aid in the humanization of formerly incarcerated individuals.

High School Drop-out
Received GED in 2009 Battery average: 540
Hooks: First generation college student, father deported for drug trafficking,
“Unhooks”: convicted felon recently released

Any input is duly appreciated.

@noitpmeder me, sophomore at the moment at school in AZ.

@jakecap1123 good luck!

@noitpmeder I’ve been lurking for a few weeks and it makes me really happy to see someone with stats semi-similar to mine. Good luck!

Current school: community college in NY
Current major: Liberal arts
Intended major at NYU: English (CAS)
Credits: 65 (graduating with an AA this semester)
College GPA: 4.0 UW
SAT: waived (never took it)

I was also a high school drop out. I got my GED in 2012 with a battery average of 650 (though I scored much higher in the reading and writing sections). I’m in the Honors College of my current college and a member of two honors societies. My extracurriculars are sorely lacking because I’m also a full-time caretaker to my elderly grandmother (I did mention that in my essays). I have, however, been a peer tutor at my school’s writing center, write for my campus newspaper, and helped organize (and presented at) a creative writing festival. My recommendations are excellent. All three are from professors, one of which is the head of my campus’ honors program and the other two are NYU alumni themselves. My “hook” is that I’m a first generation college student from ‘modern family’ (single mother on disability). My personal essays are up in the air. I chose to take a less academic and serious approach to showcase my storytelling abilities. It’ll either pay off or come back to bite me lol

Good luck to everyone!

Hey guys! The deadline has passed so now the real stress begins  I know someone called Admissions and was told decisions would be released from mid April-June, but admissions said that last year and the first wave of decisions was released the Thursday following the deadline! So, I’m hoping the trend continues this year for us! Also does anyone have any Albert changes? I can access “NYU Housing Payments” which takes me to the bursar where I can select deposit and choose “Fall 2019”, I have access to orgsync with an XXX123@nyu.edu email address, and I can log into the housing portal.

@taylor99 I thought I read on last years thread that those “signs” were all meaningless as far as admission decision status as it is just autopopulated by NYU’s systems once a net id is created …

@Clementine7624 I know they are! I just wanted to check to see if anyone else had them:)

i got an email from nyu today telling me that my media, culture & communication application (mcc at steinhardt) is still being reviewed but there may not be enough spots open at nyu’s nyc location so i had to like answer a google poll saying that if i get in, i would still be interested in taking class at nyu’s paris location

@taylor99 my dd can access them as well and has an NYU email with her netid as part of it in orgsync. Sadly I think meaningless…

@Clementine7624 I’m sorry this may be a dumb question… what do you mean by dd?

Sorry - dear daughter or something like that  I am a parent

anyone get a request to submit their midterms???

@persaud10192 I uploaded mine to the portal even though I didn’t receive a request to submit it because I feel it bolsters my application!
