October 2012 PSAT score

WAY too early to tell, wait for more anecdotal data to filter in… Last year’s thread wasn’t even started until August! Top 50,000 (commended & higher) are known in April of students junior year…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/national-merit-scholarships/1379508-official-national-merit-semifinalist-qualifying-score-thread-class-2013-a.html

I got my PSAT Score back today, 207 (its alright considering I hadn’t taken any form of PSAT or and had just taken the Oct. 6 SAT). What interesting is the increase from a 630 CR on the SAT to a projected 700 on the PSAT! I’m quite happy with this result, but hopefully after actually studying my Dec. 1 SAT will be much better! Goodluck to all striving for the cutoff!

Got a 218, Way better than I was expecting! I’m pretty sure that a 218 is not quite high enough in CT but not sure so if anyone can confirm that that would be great.

Sesasheep,

Over the past 6 years, the cutoff in CT has been anywhere from 217 to 220. You may have a shot!

220 for DS in VA - the cutoff in past 10 years has ranged from 217 to 220 - hoping this is not the year it goes up to 221 :)

Can someone advise me…my daughter who is in boarding school texted me: psats in 95% math 99% others…she is now MIA studying for finals I guess and isn’t responding to my vm so i don’t know the raw scores…She took them on a Saturday in October. Can someone tell me the raw score equivalent?

@bsalum

typically, its anywhere from a 216 to a 228 (assuming she got perfect on both reading and writing)

Can you guys with score sheets in report how many you missed and the corresponding raw scores you received? I’m trying to find out the curves.

Thanks teeheelol. so probably something like 65-67 for math and 78-79 for rest?

Yeah I second tht. Can u guys do tht for us?

So, I am assuming they are mailing the PSATs from NorthEast somewhere because my school gives it back the day they recieve the scores. We haven’t gotten it back yet here in Texas and the schools seem to be from the Northeast that receive them first. Is this true?

perhaps pandatennis…?

so I just rec’d three numbers and lower than I expected so i don’t know where she got her percentiles from…68, 63, 66

@bsalum

that’s still a very high score. i’d be proud of her if she worked hard to get it. i always find psat scoring slightly more difficult than the sat.

A 66 for Reading (7 wrong) was 94%…An 80 for both Math and Writing was 99%…226 composite score was 99%…

I talked to my son’s school in Illinois today. They expect to receive the scores tomorrow and mail them on Friday.

@sesasheep, this year the CT cutoff was 218.

Well apparently I can’t add and 9+7 is 16 :slight_smile: That makes score 216 which looks pretty impossible :(

Oh well still decent…

-sesasheep

We are in NJ, and have not gotten scores yet. I assume they send them in batches, and may not even send them by state or region.

But my son will check tomorrow with his guidance counselor.

Hi,
I’m from arizona and I am anxious to know my score. Does anyone know when arizona PSAT scores will arrive?

My high school in Arizona said before winter break.
