October 2012 SAT Discussion

LOL Niquii sorry I meant if the Mars passage was in the same section was the Greek alphabet one.

It was 33.

5 + 12 = 17

Third side has to be shorter than both the other sides added up.

5 + 12 + 16 (16 being the biggest integer less than 17 that can be a third side) = 33

The greek alphabet was that there was no want because they liked the changing qualities of the stories with time, but then there was analysis that Homer, with his writing of an epic from oral tradition, combined the two and then changed everything. And then it went on a tangent about how they figured that out.

what was the answer to the question for the inequality showing x is greater than 485 but less than 515

@Leinad Hahaha it’s okay…you made me think ;)

Sheyep if it was 33 then the sides would overlap and thus no triangle could be formed…

@ justin

|w - 500| less than or equal to 15 is what I put

|w - 500| < or equal to 15

You mean the math one that had like 6x+2 in the middle some number on the left and 44 on the right?

Leinad
Thanks I was thinking about that rule but forgot. I guess I missed 1 for sure. What did people put for the ratio between the markers and rest spots in 19 miles question?

If the hard math section WASN’T the experimental one, then I’m screwed.

-3 on math, haha ^_^’

I’m calling my friend and asking her if she had the same one.

2:1 is the answer.

@ fullmetal

The ratio was 2:1

There was a marker at the beginning and one for every 2.5 miles. 19/2.5 = 7.6, but there can only physically be 7 markers. 7 + the one at the beginning = 8.

There was rest stop at the beginning. Then one for every 6 miles. 19/6 = 3.166, but there can only physically be three stops. 3 + one at beginning = 4.

8:4 = 2:1

I’ve posted my questions but no one response…

I am not sure about two vocab problems…

Muscians manage to …a great variety of musical expressions, despite the music’s convenrtion? or rhythm?

The official’s record was both…and…; he missed important votes and did not lead a legislative initiative. I chose the one with scant and undistinguished.

Oh, how many lines segments were needed to join the four points?

Darn! I guess that means I missed two for math…

@ yaowhite

Dunno about #1.

2 is definitely scant/undistinguished.

I put 6 for the line segments.

I put scant and undistinguished, too. I don’t remember seeing the first question you asked about.

@at galinthagood I think it was 4 it said the dots should connect to each other once or was it two?

Didn’t the question specifically say you can’t use the dot more than twice or something around there?

Was polymath answer to vocab?

It said you can only connect two points using one line.

I needed 6 segments to connect all of them to each other with that in mind.
