My d has dance on Tues and Thurs next semester...she has had limited dance experience and will be taking Basic Movement Jazz. She is hoping to add some additional dance training at some point either through the college (which she was told is possible) or at an outsidde studio.
As for your OCU visit, I hope you love it as much as my d does and hope to meet you in August. I will pm you with my d's e-mail and aim info.

Kim,
I guess our kids are in the same jazz class. My son doesn't have much dance experience either, just show choir, a little tap, and doing choreographed dance in shows. He is also hoping to add more at OCU.

fingers_crossed,
You can email me by clicking on my name, and I will give you my son's email. I know you will have a good visit to OCU; the people are so nice.

YAYYYY, Shauna!!! And welcome to our thread, even though you are not a freshman, you are certainly welcome to post with us. We are so proud of you and are looking forward to meeting you in August!

Shauna - great news! Each and every student's successes are a source of joy, but for those of us that have been following this thread for awhile, this one is really sweet! You deserve it.

Over the past few years, you and I have never met, but I feel like I kmnow your whole story. I am Chrisr's son and she has always told me baout your story. I'm very excited that the two of us will be going to OCU together!!
See you next year!
~D

hi, I'm actually chrisr's son. I posted on my mom's name and didn't log in as myself... whoops. MY name is David and I am excited to be going to school with you next year!

I just got back from my visit to OCU and just loved it. I signed the dotted line when I got home and am now OFFICAILLY heading to OCU this fall.

I didn't get to see Seussical, which was really disapointing, my plane didn't get in until 9 on Sunday night. But I did get to go to a small cast party Sunday night and meet some MT majors. I got to spend all of Monday in classes, which gave me a really good feel for the program. I then got to see the student caberat that night, which was awesome and a ton of fun.

Anyways, so it's definite now, see you all in the fall!

Count us in!! my daughter will be attending OCU for MT in fall.

It certainly has been an amazing five or so months between the travel, the keeping her healthly, keeping her spirits up ( mine too), remembering her headshots, music and dance shoes for auditons ( we forgot the dance shoes once and her dad and I each drove 2.5 hours after midnight, in the snow, to meet each other halfway to get them) and the stress that just goes along with an audtion. I am glad it is over, but must say it is an experience and time I will always cherish. We had some real adventures and some good laughs. I got to know her better as person and grew to admire, even more, her passion, courage and commitment to her craft. Our kids are pretty incredible people!!

I feel the journey has led her to a place where she grow and thrive in an enviroment that will both challenge and nuture her. I guess, as parents, we can't ask for much more.

Looking forward to meeting you all in August.

I don't know if anyone else is curious about this but I for one would love to know all the directions this OCU class of 2009 comes from. When we started this jouney nearly two years ago I thought I would loose my son to the East. Thank God for CC in showing me all the schools available especially the perfect fit for my son at OCU. We visited 11 schools (some twice w/auditions and decision making) but OCU just seemed the best fit for my S. So come August we will be making the trip from Minnesota to Okie land. Now how about the rest of you?

My d will be heading to Oklahoma from North Carolina! Like others of you, it seemed like the perfect fit for my d (although the distance will make it much more difficult for me!!!)

We're from Dallas - only 3 hours away. But, if OCU was 1,500 miles away, I'm sure my S would be there - it is the perfect fit for him. My S attended the OCU summer program last year. Did any other CC'ers kids go??

About STARS 101...
We just spoke with my d's admissions counselor and she told us that for MT majors there is really no need to attend a STARS 101 session, especially if it involves long distance travel. She told us that it is designed to help students register for fall classes and since we do that in advance, everything else (ID, parking permits, etc) can be taken care of during orientation week. Just thought I'd share this info for any of you who are debating whether to attend or not!

PS DR3azMT, I think a 16 hour drive is a longgggg way! (It's about the same for us).
