Official 2014 NYU Transfer Thread

Hi guys! I haven’t posted before but I’ve been following this thread. I’m an intl student and the pressure is killing me right now. I’m sharing your disappointment, it’s crazy that we haven’t heard back from them yet, especially now that we know decisions are made. Anyway, I applied to CAS and I really hope I’ll get in, NYU is my dream school. I also applied to other schools and got in to Fordham, Northeastern, Boston University and Emory. So I’m trying to be excited about those, since I feel out chances are getting slimmer everyday. Let’s be positive and good luck to everyone!

I just called the admissions office and they said that my application was still “going through the admissions process.” They said that they hope to release all decisions throughout next week, but definitely within the next two weeks. So I suppose this means more waiting…

NOOO they can’t say “over the next week” and then say in the next 2 >m< arhguahrhhghhh

Are there any decisions sent out today?

Wooow, they are really giving out decisions “throughout May” which is said on their website. Just curious, any Stern admits or anyone heard back from Stern these two days? It’s a loooong wait…trying to make a decision on other schools

Yeah I’m really freaking out too haha. This is my second time applying, I applied Early Decision in high school and was rejected. I really don’t wanna get rejected again lol but Since I haven’t heard back yet I think that’s whats gonna happen /: ughhhhh

@dwarnock95‌ I applied during my senior year of hs too, and got rejected too, so I feel you… I got a 3.86 GPA in college though knowing I’m international that may work. I don’t think they’re sending out any decision today, and I really don’t get why, but we shall see.

I applied to CAS in early March and I am still waiting on my decision. NYU contacted me on the 6th of May to tell me that my application was incomplete. They said I was missing my test scores (which I’m exempt from submitting) and my high school diploma (which I had previously confirmed had been received). After sending back a lengthy email explaining all of this, I received an email at 11PM with an apology and was assured that they had updated my file and would continue the process of reviewing my application.

It feels like I am stuck waiting because someone forgot to click a couple check-boxes. The more time goes by, the less hopeful I am that I got in, which is a terrible feeling. I hope everyone gets a decision soon.

Has Stern accepted anyone yet? Also, in the admissions blog they said that NYU would have most decisions finalized by yesterday…■■■…Are they just going to reject the applications they never read? Or are they only reading applications to waitlist??

I just called admissions and they said we should be all hearing back sometime next week. Best of luck to everyone who has not heard back yet. I really hope I get in!!!

Do you guys think the majority of applicants have already heard back or only a sample of the applicant pool?
@MMH224 I got a 3.85 GPA in college haha hopefully we both get in!
@Kythera The same thing happened to me… sort of. I was told my application was incomplete because my high school transcript (which they had received) was missing the date I graduated. And I’m afraid that means they haven’t even begun to look at my app until now, when decisions have already been released for many, and that will partially prevent me from acceptance, all because my counselor forgot to put the date lol. So I know how you feel haha

It seems no one from Steinhardt has heard back yet, at least to my knowledge… this makes me feel better. This waiting game is starting to get difficult.

So seems that most cas applicants haven’t heard anything yet

@Carher‌ is Steinhardt and Stern on of the schools that haven’t sent out acceptance letters? Seems like Tisch, CAS, and maybe one other have been the only schools to notify who has been accepted.

If they have already made the decisions, why not simply send them out? What are they waiting for?

@angelbeats NYU is playing with our feelings. I’m hoping they send out all decisions next week.

Just got off the phone with admissions. Some points to highlight:

The admissions blog that states decisions will be be finalized by May 15 only refers to seniors in high school.

For transfer students there is no quota as to how many students they will accept

If you have not heard back yet it might be because the committee hasn’t examined your application or because they want to benchmark your portfolio to other potential applicants that have not yet been reviewed

Acceptance/Denial letters are sent in waves. There are two waves left (next week and the week following)

Hope this settles any degree of uncertainty.

rejected by stern :frowning: do you guys think it will still help if i do some contacts with the admissions officer? I’m a transfer student, and i really wanna transfer to NYU :-(

@transfer20140826 :frowning: when did you get the news?

Hey all, I was accepted to NYU CAS Economics on Thursday, but will be attending Barnard College in the fall, hope that frees up a spot for one of you! Good luck to you all!!
