Official Brown 2011 Transfer Thread

transfergirl, can you see anything at all on your online portal regarding FA information?

Rejected from NH :/

Regarding the FA application and acceptance thing, it could really be a simple correlation=causation thing. Given that the same amount of aid is now offered to a larger pool of accepted applicants ([" + artTitle.replace(“-”,“”) + " - " + “The Brown Daily Herald” + "](http://www.browndailyherald.com/transfer-apps-rise-by-20-percent-1.2538100)), the amount of aid per person would have decreased.

This simply meant that those people who knew they could not afford Brown without aid would not have applied. Of those who felt that they still had a chance even with FinAid, it’s likely that their stats must have been really good for them to feel that way, thereby already “increasing” their chances of admittance. Conversely, those who could afford Brown without aid would apply as such, so it could really mean that the number of people who applied for aid was simply a stronger pool stats wise to begin with.

To then say that there’s a correlation between FinAid application and acceptance wouldn’t be too far off. It’s not that those who applied for FA stood a higher chance of being accepted, but that of those who were accepted, there was a higher chance that they applied for FA.

Does that make any sense (it seems very convoluted when I say it out loud, lol)?

^That does seem to be a possibility. I know that I would have applied for aid if Brown were need-blind. Maybe so many people were scared of applying for aid that Brown ended up disproportionately small number of students applying for aid.

Sorry to hear that. But you have plenty of company (probably including me in a few days, when I receive my letter).

Would you mind posting your stats? Just your college GPA, SAT scores, and whether you applied for aid would suffice.

^I started this thread, actually. Just go back to the first post :)

@wildcatz I am sorry to hear that. I hate anything about rejection. But, what is NH? Northwestern?

I think nh is new Hampshire

For all those who were accepted, is there a facebook page for admitted transfers?
