Official Brown 2011 Transfer Thread

Congrats to everyone that got in!
Feel free to join the admitted brown transfer fb group. There’s only like 3 ppl in there haha, need more ppl ^^

Send me a PM for the link.

Anyone get in as a philosophy major?

I didn’t get anything in the mail today… :(

Does anyone know if they will eventually post the decisions online?

no letter in the mail today…hopefully tomorrow?

none today in the midwest

How come the posting stopped? Aren’t people calling for their decisions? C’mon people! Post your decisions (and your gpa, and FA request status [yes or no]) lol!

I think anyone with the guts to call would have called yesterday and posted his or her results.

The sissies on this thread (yes, that includes me) are waiting until we receive our letters, which should arrive this week.

I called today, found out I was accepted. Ultimately, however, I probably won’t be attending. I would be going in as a Junior transfer and leaving a lot of great opportunities and friends behind, and wiping out my entire savings account in the process.

Anyways, my stats:

Sophomore at University of Delaware
GPA: 3.9
SATs: CR: 670 MATH: 770 WRITING: 800
SAT IIs were pretty mediocre
High school record was pretty good, but nothing terribly rigorous or impressive. Top 5% of class
Extracurriculars:
-Eagle Scout (HS)
-All State Volleyball player, player of the year for the county Senior year, named to a few other MVP teams, also State Runner Up in my junior year (all HS)
-Habitat for Humanity Crew Leader (College)
-Animal Shelter Volunteer (College)
-Did full time biomedical research in NYC between FR and SO year

Had extremely strong rec letters, and two additional ones from alumni, one of them being the head of lab for my internship

also, I did not apply for FA

It’s my understanding that all transfer decisions were mailed last Friday, but I didn’t get anything in the mail today…tomorrow??! :D

I’ve been following this forum from the start and…

THE RUMOR is that rejections were sent out Friday but acceptances were sent out Monday.

The people who called and asked for decisions were informed that the letters were sent Monday. I doubt Brown would perform two separate mailings for rejected and accepted students.

yea, I’m sure you’re right. For those who received an acceptance through mail already (those who live on the east coast), did you get the big envelope or just a regular small one?

@transfers2010, didn’t someone say that their friend got a rejection in the mail today? that’s some mighty quick mail if they sent them all on monday! maybe they sent them all out on friday? isn’t that what brown reps originally said?

also, i feel like everyone who has said they were accepted called in!

^I don’t think anyone has received an acceptance via mail yet.

That said, I do not want to know whether the acceptance letters come in large or regular envelopes. If you know they come in large envelopes and you receive a small letter, you’ll know right away that you’re rejected, which is kind of depressing to me.

@ivoryjean,

Yeah that is pretty quick delivery, but definitely possible if the person lives near Brown.

Also the whole small envelope thing is pretty inconsistent. The first time around that I applied for colleges half of my acceptances came in small envelopes!

last year they came in a large envelope
