any word on number of applicants/ number of expected admits? did anyone find out from admissions? ahhhh

@Wellesleygirl

I think a lot of that depends on how many of your credits you are allowed to transfer to satisfy major requirements.

Say you want to major in econ. You take intro to microeconomics in your current college but not intro to macro. The econ dept would probably make you take their intro course there as Brown lumps micro and macro together in their intro econ classes.

It’s stuff like that that I imagine could delay graduation.

@linababe

I’m pretty sure someone posted the answer to your question earlier in this thread. I think there are around 1950 applicants this year.

Do colleges actually give our figures for expected admits?

So, would one need to take one or two years of summer classes to graduate on time? I’ll accept Brown’s invitation no matter what semester they offer me, as I am at a pretty equal (academically speaking) college whose credits will mostly transfer over. If offered Spring Admission, I’ll try to take really generic classes at my current college that will without a doubt be transferred. That’d be awful to have to pay for one more semester!

I thought they send decisions out by mail no?

I am so nervous to get my decision!

I am going to Brown on Friday to stay with my bf for a week. I might drop by the Admission Office to ask some questions. Brown does mail the decisions “Mid-May.” Uhmm… Do they want to get more specific?! I think they should be able to notify us of the exact date by now. Also, my bf dropped in last week, and they told him they have already made decisions. They are just figuring out how to apply the admitted students’ transfer credits! Scary!

I stalked the Brown Transfer 2010 thread on CC. Decisions were mailed on May 12 last year. On May 14, I believe, you could also call for your decision. I hope they are using a similar date this year. I cannot wait any longer. Oh yeah, I hope decisions aren’t mailed on Friday the 13th. I’m superstitious when it comes to college admissions.

Brown is the only school I applied to and I want to go there so badly. I currently go to Cornell, and I want out.

Anybody who asked for early notification know whats up? I mean, May 1st has already passed so I figure they are just not going to let us know in advance…
At this point its kind of reassuring, like, maybe it wasn’t so easy for them to reject me ? Haha, well, that’s the way I see it.

Anyway, totally in suspense for Brown’s decision. Probably going to Barnard though :)

Oh my goodness that is absolutely terrifying. If they know they should just put us out of our misery!

I looked at that thread too, as well as the 09 and 08 ones, and from what I can tell it doesn’t have as much to do with the date as the day. Decisions have been mailed on a Wednesday. I guess we’ll see when next Wednesday rolls around! (I hope it’s next Wednesday and not the one after that!) Brown’s my top choice too so I just really want to know. It would definitely make studying for my finals a whole lot more bearable!

time4transfer – you might be right (about the reassurance part): i did ask for my decision early and got it within HOURS.

NOT IN A GOOD WAY.

did you send them the fax of your acceptance letter from the other school?

@transferapp11

Wow, I’m sorry… thats brutal. Did they tell you by e-mail, phone?
Yes, I faxed them the acceptance letter and a short letter to them explaining my situation… so I suppose I should just wait at this point.

2-liner email. wasn’t an official letter. it was a “we got your request, and…”
(good luck to you!)

I just called the admissions office - didn’t get in. Oh well.

we can call for our decisions?!?!?!?!? oh my gosh. freaking out

@philgirl and @transferapp11
I’m sorry you guys
Out of curiosity, did either of you apply for financial aid…

I don’t know if everyone can - I requested an early decision since I had been accepted into other schools that have early response dates, so I called and asked if I would still be getting an early decision, and they totally gave it to me. eeek!

@MaybeLater: thanks! I’m kinda bummed, but it wasn’t my top choice, so I’m still trying to stay hopeful. And yep, I applied for financial aid, which probably had something to do with my decision :/

how long after you mailed/emailed your acceptance letters (from other places) did you call the office actually ASKING for a decision?

can anyone else not log in to their applicant page???

I mailed them copies of my acceptance letters about three or four weeks ago.

Please post your stats when you receive a decision. (SAT scores, college GPA, HS GPA, and financial aid status would suffice.)

Thanks.
