just kidding, mine just changed too. i’d say their doing it for everyones.

Kind of strange of them to make this seemingly pointless update lol

The update goes into effect early May on all applicants “status”. Interviewer’s etc are only allowed to see “their” students status until that time. (The students I follow are all now blank status, whether they were accepted, wait-listed or rejected) I believe it’s for confidentiality reasons, and guess there are “hidden” status fields for people more involved with admissions directly that start showing the matriculation info for those with access.

I’m an international student and I just got the letter from the Dean today thanking me for writing to him. Did everyone get this generic email? Also, any word on the waitlist yet?

my status still says “Commited to Brown’s Waiting List”. :S

^ No one’s really sure what it means, also no one’s really sure whether Brown is actually even going to use the wait list this year. Let’s just wait and see what happens lol.

unless you hear word from the college counselor at your school, I would just sit and wait until you receive something that says accepted or rejected.

Start mentally preparing to go to your other school (I had bought the standard t-shirt and when people asked where I was going, I would just say WUSTL, only mentioning the wait list if prompted) as the odds are very against you’re getting in to Brown. It will only be one more heartbreak if you spend the next few weeks thinking about Brown.

^Thumbs up to all of the above. Could have saved myself a lot of worry and anxiety throughout my last month of high school.

I hope brown lets us know soon !

i called admissions on monday, and, as of then, they didnt know if they were going to use the waitlist. :(

The admissions officer contacted my counselor and said that they were taking a few people off the waitlist and that I was being considered. They also asked if I would go if I got in… is that a good sign or just normal?

i think it might be a good sign

good luck!

That is an excellent sign dlambi! Good luck. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

thanks best of luck to you as well :)

My guidance counselor was also contacted, but a week ago for the same reasons, my guidance counselor also received a letter from Brown

well,hopefully thats a good sign !

^it’s definitely a good sign! crossing my fingers!!! it may take a while for them to make a final decision though–it took around a month for me to officially hear from brown from the time they called my guidance counselor.

Well if it doesn’t happen I’m committed to UPenn so it’s a Win-Win situation no matter what lol, good luck to everyone else

Do schools always talk to a counselor before taking students off a waitlist? If I haven’t heard yet, should I worry?

tobogan,

To my knowledge, schools contacting guidance counselors usually only happens at the upper echelons of private schools with histories of sending large amount of applicants to Brown/top tier schools. If you are not at such a school, do not worry if your counselor doesn’t know anything. If you are, you might want to ask.
