And by the way, I have never heard of an experienced researcher arguing AGAINST warnings of the predictive power of data! Certainly a first

I wish your CR skills were up to par :(. It’s very difficult to discuss or explain when you don’t actually read what is written.

Also, please look up the difference between descriptive statistics and data analysis.

I will leave members to read and interpret as they wish. Best of luck to all next month!

@NuiNui calm down, I guess entomom simply means that you don’t need to provide the disclaimer as the data set is not supposed to be used for predictive purpose…

btw I remember that someone in the survey thread said that in his/her transfer class, about 50% applied for FA and 14% of the matriculated transfer students are FA applicants. I suppose this data would serve better for predictive purposes assuming the numbers are accurate enough.

However, this data might also be somehow skewed. Given that brown has very limited funding for transfer students (I think it’s about 320k in total based on Brown daily herald), it is reasonably possible that many admitted FA applicants were not able to afford the cost with the poor FA package and thus did not matriculate.

2 weeks to go! It seems Brown changed the selfservice system a bit and results would be released online this year.

did you call them and that’s what they said? did they say what day that might be?

No I didn’t call, just an educated guess based on the current user interface and the discussion in last year’s thread. Correct me if you called and I got it wrong:)

ha no I haven’t. Hopefully someone does once it’s May though because at this point all I care about is knowing when we’re gonna hear

Here is the news:
2 days ago I called the admission office because I had some issues with my transcripts. They transferred me to a higher admission officer.
Before the end of our conversation, i asked him about decisions date, he said : May 6th is the day when decisions will be available online and letters leave their offices. :-)

Wow. I was expecting May 15th. Now I’m, if possible, more stressed. Ahaha.

Nightwisher:
That is so great to know! Thanks for the shout out.

Sakari! Tell me about. Hahah

Rsxx29! You are most welcome.

That is amazing! Thank youuu

Thanks for the update! Can focus on finals now knowing when the decision will be coming!!!

Yesterday, I realized that I had not submitted my IDOC (I never received an email, but I was checking my Brown application and noticed there was a financial aid section that had outstanding requirements)–I just mailed them off yesterday, and will make the May 1st deadline. However, I’m not sure if not having my financial aid requirements in means my application will not be considered complete–especially since Brown is need-aware for transfer admissions. I’m a bit paranoid that, in light of the fact that decisions are in a little over a week, this will have heavily impacted my application. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thank you so much.

May 5th?my country’s having a crucial election on that day lol…This could just be agonizing.

all the best guys!Whatever the decision is I’m sure a bright future awaits us.

@sakari I don’t think financial requirements would mean an incomplete application.Considering decisions will be mailed out on the 5th I doubt it’ll make a difference on their decision!

May 6th, bumblebee12!

Oh well. I guess we’ll find out in a few days. Is everyone excited? How’s your workload for finals? Have you been internally screaming all week as you walk around campus? Are you sleeping okay? Eaten your vegetables? Turned into a worrying mom-like figure yet? :P

But really. I’m afraid to let myself get too excited, lest I be disappointed. Anyone else feel that way too?

@sakari yes to everything above. The fact that they don’t tell us until the end of the year right in the middle of finals and everything is satanic. I honestly have no idea of my chances but I don’t want to get my hopes up too high either (because I know how disappointed I’d be too).

at least we know decisions come out Monday…my finals wrap up Friday so can concentrate without real anxiety for the next 72 hours

Did everybody receive the email a little bit ago saying that decisions are coming mid-May and that the process is competitive and there are a lot of applicants, more deserving of admission than they can admit…basically setting up people for a soft rejection letter?
