Did ANYONE take social and cultural anthropology?

Whoa, Kathy. Slow down, write coherently, and realize that I did not contradict you. They will see your application holistically.

sheetmusic .......sorry i did not understand what you wrote at all. i think its clear how i feel about the process and if anyone else online had any guts they would agree instead of pretending this is FUN. give me a break.

blushes

Well, I do think this is fun. I like to fill in applications and print them out and look at everything all together and address the envelopes and think about school. And I think a lot of the other people on this board feel the same way. I do understand the stress though...hang in there!

everyone who has posted on this thread

www.ibscrewed.net is a great site

sheetmusic if you think this is fun you need to get a life. studying like a dog, balancing everything and getting all the data out then worrying about paying for college....well lets just say FUN is not what I would call it...................blush blush blush.........pass the corn syrup please.

I like studying, sorry. I have a life, I just like learning. I enjoy my classes, as corny as that sounds. I do have plenty of stuff on my plate and sure, there are times when I want nothing more than to curl up in bed and sleep until I wake up to something other than the beeping of an alarm clock. I could do with a few more hours in the day, but I'm not terribly unhappy. It's also much easier just to sit down and do the work instead of thinking about how much of it there is. I'm glad I'm doing all of this.

I wholeheartedly agree with sheetmusic- IB was a lot of fun. I'm sorry if you're stressed about IB- but you need to get over it, because it's not going to get any easier. College is harder than IB- it's an uphill climb.

If the people in your IB program are neurotic, it sounds like they have a problem. We supported each other (and suffered together) through IB, and it was a healthy (and fun) competition. The competition at your school sounds waaaay more cutthroat than it should be.

look im being honest not running for ms america on this discussion page. im really happy you find it fun to fill out applications. my idea of fun is learning not drowning in BS paperwork. im doing it because i need to however this crap is not what i live for...and this is not education and this is not college its paperwork. yes the competition at my school is cutthroat - on one hand youre telling me its fun on the other youre telling me what i already know that it basically is not a good environment. im certain i am not the only one living in this environment. im not whining. im doing what i need to do but dishing BS and playing it out as if its FUN is pathetic. however having said that I am so happy for those of you who think this is "learning"

I agree with you- BS does seem kind of pointless (for that matter, the entire TOK course is rather pointless IMO), and IB is almost always full of BS. I can also sympathize with the cutthroat atmosphere (my chem class is awful!). However, you're probably learning more than you think you are. Once IB exams roll around, hopefully you'll be more satisfied with what you learned.

i think that IB has both its high points and low points....i know that some kids at my school take the competition too far and that some days i just want to give up...but on other days i look at the teachers i get because of IB and at the stuff we get to do, and i feel really thankful that i got the opportunity to do this

on another note, did anyone take the IB Psychology SL last year? i would really appreciate this advice because i do not feel that i am getting anything out of this course (this would be one of the negatives of our IB program) and i would like to know what to concentrate on, on my own, in order to do well on the exam

I took it two years ago. IB Psych SL is, quite frankly, very superficial. The exam is mostly about name-dropping (knowing the psych experiments), and doesn't really go into much depth. If you know the experiments (for example, Wilson and Little Albert for classical conditioning, BF Skinner for operant conditioning), you'll be fine. My psych teacher always called it the "philosophy of psychology" rather than actual psych. People on CC make fun of AP Psych, but I think it goes into much more depth than IB Psych.

You might want to check out www.ibscrewed.net for more opinions/info, though.

Someone give me a list of correlation.

EX:

IB Chem HL prepares you for AP chem
IB US History prepares you for AP USH

etc.

Is there an IB US history? I thought there was only HOA. If so, it probably won't, since there is a whole lot more to cover than just America...

In my school, IB HOA is the equivalent of US history. We completely ignore souther america.

Here's what I am taking:
Psychology HL
Physics SL (this year)
English HL (I suck at english!@!2)
Spanish SL (next year, though)
Math Studies SL (this year)
IB History HL (I don't even know!)
AP Calc BC (next year)

So if anyone has tips, I'm llooking.

for everyone who did stalin for paper 1 of your history exam in may this year, which aspect of Stalin's rule were you tested on? I know one timezone got his rise to power, don't know what the other timezone got...was it collectivisation?

thanks

Hey what was the name of the poem in Paper 1 and who wrote it

when where what ?

Are you talking about the May 2005 English A1 exam? The prose was "The Loom" by R.A. Sasaki, which was the one I did. I don't remember the poem that well, but I think it had something to do with hornets and mailboxes.

Yeah AP is more efficient than IB. IB, however, gets you used to bullcrap. And you'll be getting a lot of it in life. At least you'll be prepared for it with IB...

Besides, many many IBers > APers
